For the first time, such a flower as a gerbera was described back in 1737. It was characterized as a perennial plant that has a shortened stem and slightly shortened rosettes of basal leaves. Growing gerberas in a pot is quite an interesting, exciting and at the same time responsible task. You can, of course, buy a ready-made flower, but this pleasure is not cheap. Gerbera in a pot, the price of which ranges from a hundred rubles and above, is a slightly whimsical plant, but its beauty is worth it. If you decide to grow gerberas in a pot, you first need to familiarize yourself with all the features of growing such a flower. First of all, it must be remembered that a flower like a gerbera loves a warm room that has enough light and is constantly ventilated. After all, the gerbera prefers both direct sunlight and bright diffused. It is necessary to keep track ofso that the room is well ventilated, and fresh air is constantly supplied to the flower. These conditions are mandatory in order to protect the flower from all sorts of diseases, which in most cases are directly related to pests.
Watering a gerbera in a pot should not be excessive to prevent moisture stagnation in the soil of the plant and its leaf rosette. After all, if this is not taken into account, this will primarily cause powdery mildew and many fungal diseases. Gerberas in a pot are positively affected by periodic spraying and humidification of the air that is around the plant itself. The best way to spray potted gerberas and air is to use a fine mist sprayer that converts plain water into a kind of mist. But when spraying a flower, it is necessary to try to minimize the formation of water droplets in the rosette of the plant itself and on the leaves. The water with which the flower should be watered should be warm, at least 20 degrees. Especially dangerous for the plant is watering with cold water during especially hot periods when the air temperature is very high. This can lead to diseases, and in the future - the death of the plant itself.
If in winter the gerbera in a pot is properly monitored and cared for, periodically highlighting and maintaining the temperature in the soil and air (within 20 degrees), the flower will not stop its beautiful flowering and will delight you for a long time. If, however, the temperature is reduced to10 degrees and limit watering a little, then the gerbera flower in a pot will go dormant and stop blooming. It is recommended to transplant gerberas in early spring, while remembering that in no case should compost or fresh humus be added to the ground for a flower. The plant does not need pruning. Top dressing can be done with mineral fertilizers a couple of times a month in weak concentrated doses.
