Several types of pipes were used in the last century for the installation of sewer pipelines. Usually these were concrete or cast-iron pipes, ceramic pipes were used much less often. At the moment, sewer PVC pipes are especially popular. What is this material and how to work with it?
PVC sewer pipes: benefits of use
Polyvinyl chloride is a polymer widely used in renovation and construction. This material is characterized by amazing physical and technical qualities and a minimum of shortcomings. Such a widespread use of products from this substance is due to the fact that it is harmless to human he alth. When heated, the material does not emit harmful gases, it is not combustible, and working with it, in general, is a real pleasure. Among developers, sewer PVC pipes are in great demand, which have pretty much replaced products made from traditional materials. This comes with a range of benefits:
-high degree of strength, as well as a fairly long service life;
- light weight, making them easier to load and install;
- connection is a very simple process that does not require the purchase of any special equipment;
- high degree of resistance to aggressive environment, ultraviolet and temperature;
- excellent throughput and self-cleaning capability;
- PVC sewer pipe (150 mm in diameter) clogs much less frequently than a similar cast iron one.
Another advantage can be called the fact that after their installation does not require painting or other additional method of protection from various external factors. The presence of chlorine atoms in the composition contributes to self-extinguishing in the event of a fire, and this allows you to eliminate the fire quickly enough.
PVC sewer pipes: varieties
Industry produces several groups of such products. You can name the following varieties:
- oriented to building indoor systems;
- designed for use outside buildings and structures;
- focused on pressure sewer applications.
Mounting Features
The first stage of work requires a detailed project. To do this, calculate the number of pins to be installed. This number is determined by countingwater outlet points. Typically, this amount includes a kitchen sink, a shower or bath, a toilet, a washbasin in the bathroom, a washing machine and a dishwasher. Each drainage point requires the use of an oblique tee. In this case, it is inappropriate to use straight lines, as this may adversely affect the speed of water movement. After that, the length of the pipes is measured, for which you can use a tape measure.
The elements are connected in a socket. If you are using a PVC sewer pipe 250 mm (diameter), then all tees must be of the appropriate diameter.
