The purpose of thermal insulation materials is to keep warm on rainy and cold days, creating comfortable living conditions. After a cold winter period, the repeatedly freezing external insulation thaws with the advent of heat. If there is no way out for the formed moisture, it becomes damp and loses its original appearance. Over time, the heater becomes unusable. In order to provide full protection against condensate, wind and moisture, a special vapor barrier is used.
Manufacturer Onduline
The French company Onduline is one of the largest and most famous global manufacturers of roofing materials. The company was founded in 1944 and today includes 35 trading companies and 10 factories. Roofing vapor barrier products "Ondutis" (manufacturer Onduline) are produced in many countries of the world. This brand has launched the production of high-quality and inexpensive film. And despite its unpretentious appearance and simplicity, those who have already used such material were very pleased.
Today, the company "Ondulin" offers customers 2 types of vapor barrier films - windproof and vapor barrier. Each of them is designed to perform strictly designated functions with proper insulation of the room. Films can be laid under roofing materials or used when mounting walls.
Advantages of vapor barrier "Ondutis"
The vapor barrier films of this brand have the following advantages:
- vapor barrier is made of fairly durable polymeric materials;
- tolerates high temperatures well;
- not afraid of moisture and corrosion;
- high elasticity and strength even at fairly low temperatures;
- retains moisture and steam and does not release warm air;
- UV resistant, therefore suitable for external building protection.
As a rule, those who choose the vapor barrier "Ondutis" no longer switch to other types. It is convenient and easy to work with.
Vapor barrier film
"Ondutis R70" is a modern high-quality non-woven fabric made of white polymer fiber covered with a protective film. The film is environmentally friendly, non-bacterial and has a high vapor permeability.
Vapor barrier "Ondutis" can be used for:
- insulated walls;
- residential lofts;
- interior partitions;
- atticfloors.
Due to the correct selection of components, this vapor barrier film creates a reliable barrier to condensate and steam that forms indoors during the cold season.
"Ondutis R70" is an internal insulation that perfectly protects the insulation from getting wet. It is used in almost all types of enclosing structures, which include floors, insulated walls and roofs (flat and pitched).
This film "Ondutis" is compatible with all types of thermal insulation, regardless of the material from which it is made. At the same time, any insulation will be qualitatively and reliably protected from getting wet. This material not only conscientiously protects the house from negative external influences, but also gives the owners a fifteen-year warranty period, so you can forget about roof repairs for many years.
Produced vapor barrier "Ondutis R70" in rolls. Each 75 sq.m. film, the weight of one roll is 5.35 kg.
Benefits
The film "Ondutis R70" has a high mechanical strength, which is especially important when installing roofs. Unlike roofing material and glassine, the film does not emit benzene oils. It is environmentally friendly, has chemical resistance, is not subject to bacterial decomposition. In addition, it retains its properties throughout the entire operational period. Thanks to the addition of a UV stabilizer, the material can be used as a temporary cover.
Mounting Features
When making the steam barrier R 70 is mounted under the decorativefinishing on the inner surface of the enclosing structures. Which side to put the vapor barrier on the ceiling? The film is pre-cut to the desired dimensions and mounted with a smooth side to the ceiling or wall in vertical or horizontal stripes. The overlap of the strips should be at least 10 cm. When performing temporary fastening to the elements of a wooden frame, a construction stapler is used. On concrete and brick walls, the film can be fixed with the mounting tape "Ondutis BL". To create a reliable vapor barrier, it is necessary to seal the joints of the film well with the help of the mounting tape "Ondutis ML". The bed film is fixed with metal profiles or wooden bars. Between the finish and the film there should be a ventilation gap for the thickness of the profile or bar (2-5 cm). This condition is especially important for rooms with high humidity, and for heated houses of episodic use.
R Thermo
"Ondutis R Termo" is a foil vapor barrier film based on polyester fabric. The aluminum layer on the inside has a polymer coating to protect against mechanical stress. The film is environmentally friendly, has a high vapor permeability resistance. In addition, it is not susceptible to bacterial degradation.
Key features
This film does not change its qualities even at 120 ° C, so it can be used for buildings with high humidity and temperature: in baths, saunas, laundry, etc.the word "thermo" indicates that the material is not afraid of either high or low temperatures, as well as their differences. In total, the film reflects up to 80% of thermal radiation, so it is also called energy-saving. Mechanical loads during the installation and operation of such a film do not at all worsen its properties. "Ondutis R Termo" is made using a special technology. Thanks to aluminum sputtering, such a film does not get wet and does not crumble, and does not emit harmful substances, unlike many modern analogues. In addition, the aluminum layer protects a special composition that prevents any damage and peeling, which can be caused by mechanical deformation.
This film is excellent for ceiling vapor barrier. The secret lies in the ability of aluminum coating to reflect heat rays into the room, preventing them from rising up. This keeps the ceiling finish slightly warmer than a simple vapor barrier and prevents condensation from forming on it.
"Ondutis R Termo" also has a minus - the film cannot be used for vapor barrier of concrete and brick walls, because due to the reflection of heat waves inside the room they will be in constant cold, they will quickly freeze, and this is very bad for the microclimate residential buildings. Perhaps the appearance of dampness, as well as the destruction of the walls themselves. You need to fix the film with a metallized surface in the warm direction.
Smart RV
"Ondutis Smart RV" is translated from English as "smart film". The canvas has a grayColour. The material has a protective layer. The film differs in that it contains adhesive tapes for easy installation, so there is no need to purchase additional accessories. "Smart RV" has good strength and wide mounting temperature range. Service life is up to 50 years.
Used in various structures: in ceiling and floor coverings, in insulated structures where there is a flat or sloping roof. The film is able to combine well with any kind of materials used in thermal insulation.
"Ondutis RV Smart" protects the room from dampness and prevents:
- increase in humidity due to accumulation of condensate;
- moisture accumulation after precipitation;
- condensation from cold air, which negatively affects the condition of the inside of the metal roof.
The use of the film helps to reduce the effect of heat flow on the roof cake during the heating period, which significantly reduces the likelihood of ice formation.
Mounted "R70 Smart" from the side of the attic on top of the insulation. It is fastened with a smooth side close to the insulation, with horizontal stripes overlapping from 10 cm.
All Ondutis roofing films with the Smart prefix have one drawback - the built-in strips with adhesive tape are very narrow, which is not always convenient during installation. To be sure of the reliability of the final result, many additionally use a double-sidedscotch tape, because a good vapor barrier is very important.
RV film
This waterproofing film is a gray sheet with the same additive as "Smart RV". The UV stabilizer resists UV radiation well, but not more than 1.5 months, so the membrane must be covered from direct sunlight.
Most often, the film is used for waterproofing in non-insulated roofs or with the use of thermal insulation materials on sloping roofs.
"Ondutis RV" has excellent technical characteristics that help protect the attic from moisture. It should be noted that the characteristics of this material are the same as those of "Smart RV" films. The material is responsible for creating a reliable protection of the roofing from internal heat flow and bad weather. But the RV roll has 35m2 decking, while the Smart RV has 75m2. The cost of the roll is also different, respectively, but you do not need to additionally purchase mounting adhesive tape for gluing joints.
"Ondutis RV", like "Smart RV", is used in the arrangement of light roofing. They are used within 1-2 months. Due to its resistance to UV rays and high strength, such a roof saves well from bad weather.
SA115
Hydro-windproof vapor-permeable film "Ondutis SA 115" is a super-diffusion membrane protected on both sides by a non-woven fabric made of polymer fibers. The material has the ability to intensively pass water vapor through itself and retain water and air.
Benefits
This film is environmentally friendly, highly resistant to solar radiation, high tear strength. It is also non-bacterial.
Due to the high vapor permeability of "Ondutis SA 115":
- keeps thermal insulation and all structural elements dry;
- reduces heat loss associated with the inversion of cold air into the insulation, which significantly improves the heat-shielding qualities of the roofing "pie";
- prevents weight loss of insulation as a result of blowing fibers into the under-roof space.
This type of film can be used as a temporary protection for building envelopes for 1.5 months prior to installation of the main cover.
How to style?
Hydro-vapor barrier for the roof "Ondutis SA 115" is laid from the outside tightly to the insulation. Be sure to arrange an external ventilation gap for the natural removal of steam from the thermal insulation. The film can also be used for moisture and wind insulation of walls.
On pitched insulated roofs, the material is laid close to the insulation. Between the roof and the film there should be one ventilation gap from 7 to 10 cm. It is necessary that the under-roof space is well ventilated. To do this, ventilation holes are provided in the eaves to provide air access, and ventilation devices are made in the ridge area,appropriate to the roofing system.
On the roof, the film is attached to the rafters. In this case, the logo should look outward after laying the thermal insulation. The material is rolled out on the roof and laid in horizontal stripes. Starting from the bottom strip go from the eaves to the ridge. The overlap distance of horizontal joints should be at least 15 cm, and vertical - 20 cm.
On the rafters, the material is fixed with a stapler. To reduce heat loss associated with the penetration of external cold air, the vertical and horizontal joints of the film are glued with reinforced tape or double-sided mounting tape "Ondutis BL".
