Most rural houses of old buildings do not have a bathroom. This was caused by pre-existing building regulations. Over time, an increase in the standard of living led to their revision, and now equipping housing with a bathroom is considered the norm. There are organizations that quickly install a storage septic tank, connect a toilet bowl to it and draw up a maintenance contract.

When building a new home, this can be a big help, but how do you install a toilet without heavy machinery driving into the garden? Is it possible to arrange a toilet in your house with your own hands? What engineering schemes are used for private houses? What physical laws will need to be taken into account?

How to choose a place to connect to the sewer

When they arrange a toilet in a private house with their own hands, sometimes they forget about the law of communicating vessels. When planning the removal of waste, one should also provide for the impossibility of getting it back through the sewer system. During heavy rains, active snowmelt or sewer clogging, sewagewater flows over the edge of the well. If there is sewerage along the street and one of its wells is located next to the house, it is possible to connect the exit from a private house to it only if the house is located higher.

In small villages, local streams are used to drain domestic sewage. Typically, sewer wells are built taking into account the natural slope of the soil surface. When the well overflows, runoff comes to the surface and flows down the slope. Residents connect private houses standing on such a street to the city sewerage on their own.

Having decided to connect the home system to the city one, they choose the one located below the slope from two wells. Then, in case of clogging, water will not go through the toilet into the house.

Septic tank: whether to make an overflow compartment

Finland has developed low-rise construction. The climate in this country is similar to the Russian one, and you can use the experience of installing septic tanks from Finnish builders. First of all, it is customary to install industrial septic tanks for wastewater, which have three to four compartments. Waste enters the first, rises and fills the second through the overflow hole, then reaches the top of the tank and thus fills all four compartments. Solid masses remain in the first tank. As the remaining containers are filled, the water in them settles and in the last compartment it is already almost transparent.

When it is decided to make a toilet in your house with your own hands, the accumulating septic tank is often made from improvised means. Two hundred liter barrels, which are buried to the depth of soil freezing, have proven themselves well. It will take six or eight barrels. For four, the bottom is knocked out and an overflow hole with a diameter of 110 mm is cut out.

Four barrels are placed side by side in the dug hole, after which they are filled up to the level of the upper sides, not forgetting to compact the soil around them. Hollow cylinders are installed on each buried barrel, which were obtained after removing the bottoms of the remaining four barrels. Bury these upper containers carefully so that there is no displacement. After the soil has closed the barrels to the drain holes, tees of a plastic pipe with a diameter of 110 mm are inserted into them in such a way as to connect the entire system. Four compartments are obtained, in the last of which technical water for irrigation is formed.

If you limit yourself to only one container, it will quickly fill up and begin to overflow, spreading the smell. For irrigation, such contents of the compartment will not work; you will often have to call vacuum trucks. Those who have made a single-chamber septic tank often regret it.

What is a puffball

When arranging a toilet in your house with your own hands, you should not forget about the fan riser, popularly called air. When the toilet is connected to the sewer, it is planned to mount on this section of the pipeline that goes to the roof. It is convenient to place it against the wall behind the toilet. On the roof, the exit of the riser is closed with a cap to prevent foreign objects from entering it.

What is it for? When the release valve is pressed, the contentsthe toilet goes into the sewer pipe. It creates rarefied pressure. If it is not normalized by drawing in air through the fan riser (if it is absent), then this happens through plumbing fixtures.

It happens that a home-made master made a toilet in a country house with his own hands and for the first time flushes the toilet, and she leaves very slowly. Like a blocked pipe. But as soon as you install an air vent, the water is already rushing through the sewer pipe in a whirlwind.

Someone does not understand why to put the riser on the roof. For the functioning of the drain, you can leave an audit open in the sewer pipe in the basement. But the smell from it will fill the whole house. For the same reason, you should not take the riser to the attic.

Unpleasant smell in the toilet

If, after installing a toilet in your house with your own hands, the smell of sewage appears in the room, some try to solve the problem by installing forced ventilation. But this does little to freshen the air. A properly installed system should not emit any foreign odors. This means that there are engineering miscalculations at the construction or design stage.

In a septic tank, consisting of a single container that does not have the ability to overflow, high gas pressure is created due to biodegradation processes. They break through the water seal of the toilet bowl and go out into the room. If a fan riser is installed between the toilet and the septic tank, gases escape into it.

Conclusion

Sewerage is a complex system in whichphysical laws apply. Failure to understand this leads to serious problems. Therefore, it is worth spending time and figuring out how to make a toilet in a wooden house with your own hands.
