Young families often face the problem of housing: the purchase of new real estate is an unbearable burden, and replenishment in the family forces them to look for a way out. One of them is the redevelopment of a one-room apartment into a two-room apartment. This is a very difficult task. Even if you find the right solution for a studio apartment in terms of design, redevelopment will entail a lot of all sorts of problems.
Improving the kitchen
Most often, one-room apartments are turned into a studio by combining a kitchen and a room. However, this option is absolutely irrelevant when there is a need to divide the space in order to add a corner for the child to it. So, what can be done when the redevelopment of a one-room apartment into a two-room apartment is on the agenda? Often in one-room apartments there is a small pantry that can be successfully used by connecting it to the kitchen. The process will require some moving costscommunications, but this is more than a rational use of living space. To give the apartment a more modern look, you can connect the room with the resulting kitchen, turning the apartment into a studio, but at the same time add a partition on the opposite side of the room. This way you get a living area consisting of a kitchen-studio and a nursery.
Divided into zones
The redevelopment of a one-room apartment into a two-room apartment also does not exclude zoning - that is, there is no need to use partitions to separate a room. For example, the kitchen and the living room can be divided absolutely conditionally, placing a bar counter on the proposed border. This method is often used in modern design. Another option is to use floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. They can be double-sided (a wall with shelves located on both sides), one-sided or through (that is, consisting only of shelves and partitions between compartments, without a wall). Obviously, the latter design seems to be the most airy and will not weigh down your interior. Screens and even curtains can be used as a separator. However, do not deprive attention of such simple options as sofas, computer tables and kitchen furniture itself - the main thing is to maintain harmony. The entrance hall can be left intact, or it can be connected to the living area by removing the wall or replacing the door with a large arch. Thus, you will make the interior more stylish and visually more spacious, without violating the principle of zoning.
Actually, a new room
Children's or other additional room - this is, in fact, the main goal that is pursued when the redevelopment of an apartment is started. Price for designer services
is quite high, but they should not be neglected: when it comes to very small areas, all the free space of which must be used as rationally as possible, it is better to heed the advice of craftsmen and professionals. If you need a separate room, using furniture to “create” it is not the best option: sound insulation will turn out to be “no”, and the room will only be called a room conditionally. It is better to use drywall, gas blocks, foam blocks and other not too heavy materials for these purposes. When the redevelopment of a one-room apartment into a two-room apartment is brought to mind, pay attention to the design of the new room. After all, with a little imagination, you can transform even the smallest room into a room with functional space.
