Pear "Chizhovskaya" was obtained at the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in Moscow. For crossing, the varieties "Forest Beauty" and "Olga" were taken.
The variety was named after one of its authors - S. T. Chizhova, the second author of the variety is Potapov S. P. The tree is medium-sized, late-summer, almost completely self-fertile. The pear variety belongs to the trees of the standard type. The bark of the trunk (or as it is also called by professional gardeners - shtamba) is dark gray. Durable skeletal branches, which make up the frame of the tree crown, also have a gray color, they are arranged vertically, slightly obliquely. Shoots are usually brown-red in color, medium length and thickness, rounded in section.
At a young age, the "Chizhovskaya" pear has a narrow crown, but at a fruiting age, the crown is usually pyramidal in shape, the foliage is medium. The sheets are small in size, have an elongated, oval
shape. The thickness of the sheet is medium, the surface is smooth. Stipules are of the lanceolate type. The kidneys are cone-shaped, dark brown. The yield of the variety is high, from one tree you can usually collect up to fifty kilograms of a pear crop. Pear "Chizhovskaya" bears fruit annually, the fruits do not crumble from the tree, the type of fruiting is ringed. The stalks are short, of medium thickness. Funnel ribbed, narrow, small. Cup type - open. Subcup tube of medium size. Small heart, without granulations.
Fruits of medium size, do not exceed one hundred and forty grams in weight, pear-shaped, or as they say, obovate, with a smooth surface. The average number of seeds in the fruit does not exceed ten pieces, the seeds are brown. The skin of the fruit is very thin, dull, smooth, dry. The main color of the skin is yellowish-green, with delicate pink stains. Subcutaneous small dots are moderately expressed.
