The circulating pump is a pump model that is designed to work in various systems, including heating structures. It should be noted that the narrowing or expansion of pipes at the installation site of such devices is unacceptable. A point change in the pressure of the heat carrier provokes the appearance of gas bubbles, which is fraught with a lot of problems.

Features

For circulating pumps, mostly purified or distilled water is used. This nuance is due to the increased density of liquid-glycol mixtures. Together with good penetrating characteristics, this combination negatively affects the life of the pump.

Some manufacturers in theory allow the device to interact with a mixture of ethylene glycol and water. The first component in the mixture should not exceed 50 percent. At the same time, manufacturers note that this method of operation increases the load on the engine. For these reasons, the estimated capacity of the purchased unit must be taken into account with a margin. Additional verification of such models is required if the percentage of glycol in the composition exceeds 20%. In addition, working with toxic coolants is much more difficult and harmful.

Grundfos circulating pumps

This manufacturer should highlight the Alpha-2 series. It is a new generation of Danish-made appliances based on UPS systems. Modifications are comparable to the auto-ADAPT program, react to temperature changes, autonomously adjust the media supply.

  • motors equipped with stable magnets and original plug;
  • starting torque - 27 Nm;
  • easy start after long periods of inactivity;
  • higher energy efficiency with pressure adjustment and multiple locking options;
  • wide range of models (standard cast iron version, air separator version, stainless steel version);
  • high reliability;
  • minimum noise parameter (up to 43 dB);
  • comfortable operation (parameter display is displayed on the front panel);
  • small overall dimensions and weight (length - 180 mm, weight - 2100 grams);
  • durability (five-year manufacturer's warranty).

Among the disadvantages of this circulating pump is the unsuitability for voltage drops and a rather high price.

Wilo Star-RS

The indicated circulating pumps are analogues with a centrifugal "wet" rotor. The most common models of this brand have a head of 4 and 5.5 m, a power of 48 and 84 W.

Features:

  • core - cast iron;
  • installation nuances - the shaft is placed in a horizontal position, the device is connected using spring terminals;
  • motor during operation is not sensitive to blocking currents;
  • forefficiency, there are three operating modes;
  • motor is not subject to overheating, since wet rotor bearings are lubricated by the working fluid;
  • wear resistance, durability, reliability;
  • presence of polypropylene wheel, stainless steel shaft;
  • extended operating temperature range (from -10 to +110 degrees);
  • surge protection, minimum noise level;
  • easy to install, easy to use.
  • light weight (2.4 kg), compact dimensions (mounting length - 130 mm).

Among the disadvantages are the high price (about six thousand rubles), the appearance of noise over time (at the third speed).

Jileks

From this manufacturer it should be noted the circulating pumps for water of the "Compass" line. In this series, six varieties are presented, differing in power and processing surface. Such units are budget variations with a "wet" type rotor without stuffing box seals.

The most demanded modification is Jeelex Tsirkul 25/40. It is equipped with a cast iron body. Some versions have brass or bronze trim. The pump consumption is three cubic meters per hour (pressure - four meters, working power - 65 W). Temperature range - from +10 to +110 degrees Celsius.

Benefits

Highlight such moments:

  • a worthy indicator of efficiency, thanks to the adjustment of the power parameter in three positions;
  • convenient installation (supplied with capnuts);
  • low noise (up to 65 dB);
  • simplicity in design for reliability and durability;
  • light weight (up to 5.6 kilograms, depending on modification);
  • well-developed service network;
  • reasonable price (about three thousand rubles).

Among the minuses is the lack of a standard cable, the first time during operation there may be a smell of paint.

Updated DAB heating circulation pumps

The VA 35/180 model is the most popular in the model range from this manufacturer. The productivity of the device is three cubic meters per hour, the maximum working pressure is 10 bar at a pressure of 4.3 meters. Power rating - 71 W.

In 2017, the Italian company updated and finalized the specified modification. A cast-iron frame with a cataphoretic coating appeared in the design. An improved ceramic shaft has been introduced into the motor, and laser engraving has been added to the label.

Pros of the circulating pump in question in the heating system:

  1. Three-mode operation adjustment to improve product economy.
  2. Easy to mount with the special quick release connector both vertically and horizontally.
  3. Two installation lengths (180 and 130 mm).
  4. High degree of maintainability (device is dismantled by removing four screws).
  5. Low noise level comparable to a quiet conversation.
  6. Baseelectric motor made of die-cast aluminum, impeller made of technical wear-resistant polymer.
  7. The shaft and thrust bearing are made of ceramic.
  8. In addition, the design contains parts made of stainless steel and graphite.
  9. Acceptable cost (from 4.5 thousand rubles).

The disadvantages include the lack of an information monitor and possible defects in some elements in the factory design.

UNIPUMP LPA

Installation of circulating pumps in the Unipump LPA series heating system saves electrical resources. These units are structurally and technologically similar to the Grundfos Alpha 2 models. The units are designed for heating schemes with night operation or variable indicators, including operating temperature.

Features:

  • Designed for domestic and DHW applications, circulating media in single and dual circuit designs;
  • equipment includes an electric motor with long magnets, a frequency adjustment unit, a control panel;
  • economy achieved by setting the appropriate mode from five ranges;
  • no overheating of the motor, thanks to the "wet" rotor, which provides constant lubrication of the bearings;
  • operating temperature limits - from +2 to +110 degrees, pressure - 10 bar;
  • low noise, not exceeding 43 dB;
  • ease of use, thanks to the presence of an informative monitor;
  • increased level of protection (IP-42);

Installation recommendations

It is important to know how to properly install the circulation pump. Each unit comes with instructions. Its careful study will allow you to understand the intricacies of installing the device. This procedure is quite realistic to perform on your own. At the installation site, a part of the pipe is cut off, after removing all the liquid from the system.

In most cases, the old structure will need to be cleaned up. This is necessary to remove rust and dirt from the system. It is problematic to do this through the drain fittings, due to the small cross section of the hole. For these purposes, a cut point is used. A hose is connected to one side, supplying the media under pressure, on the other side the water will drain.

A bypass is installed on the pump compartment, which is needed for safety net in the event of a sudden power outage or device breakdown. As a result, the liquid will circulate through the main line, on which a mechanically opened valve (manually) is mounted. The best option is an automatic shut-off valve that responds to changes in system pressure.

Sequence of actions

Which circulating pump for heating is better, indicated above. Regardlessof the selected type of device, the sequence of manipulations during installation and connection is similar. Do the following:

  1. Drain the coolant and clean the heating system.
  2. If the structure has been used for several years, it must be washed twice.
  3. The purchased pump is inserted into the intended place according to the principle of adjusting the incoming energy.
  4. After installation, the apparatus is filled with working fluid.
  5. Check the operation of the entire system, be sure to eliminate all existing shortcomings.
  6. Turn on the unit, having previously ensured its interaction with a special fuse.
