Profile is a lath made of cold-rolled galvanized metal. With its help, you can design a frame of any complexity. The modern construction industry uses vinyl and metal profiles for drywall. Dimensions and materials are suitable for all mounting structures. Before starting work, you should know all types of profiles used in construction.
Profile types
The guide (called UD) is installed around the entire perimeter of the room (if it is a ceiling) or on the floor, ceiling and parallel walls (if it is a wall). It is used to create the plane of the future frame. The guide profile for drywall, the dimensions of which are very convenient in design designs, can be of different quality. Strength depends on the thickness of the material being produced. Thicker steel is used on the ceilings. thin metal productused for wall cladding.
Bearing (indicated by SD) is a supporting profile for drywall. Its dimensions (thickness and length) are different, as in the guides. The thinner the steel, the more fasteners are installed. Intended for the final completion of the design. Responsible for the reliability and rigidity of the frame. Takes all the load, so it must be made of good galvanized material. Fastened by inserting into the guide (UD). It is calculated so that the last sheet of drywall ends in the middle of the profile. The main selection criteria are the width and height of the partition. It is screwed from each edge with small self-tapping screws ("fleas").
In addition to the two main ones, other types of drywall profiles are also used. Their sizes are very similar, but the functions differ from each other:
- Corner profile (PU) - designed to strengthen the outer corners. Mounted on a drywall base with putty. It is also called a perforated corner. It is applied in window or door slopes, external corners of walls and boxes. It acts as a beacon on the walls. With its help, the corner of the wall comes out even and sharp.
- Lighthouse (PM) - if the walls are very crooked, special beacons are placed on the gypsum plaster, then putty is thrown between them and pulled up by the rule.
- Ceiling guide - has the same functions as a regular profile, but it is much stronger. Made specifically for ceilingframes.
Vinyl profiles
Gypsum board profiles, which come in different sizes, are suitable for every need of the user. To complete the installation of structures with high quality, it is worth using vinyl profiles, the surface of which is easily processed. They are intended for end, external corners and non-standard walls. They protect against moisture, give completeness to the edges and connect the structure to window blocks and doors. There are several types:
- Arched (PA) is a bent arched profile. Used in curvilinear drywall constructions. Flexibility radius - 500 mm. Particularly suitable for finishing columns.
- J-profile is very common. Made from hard vinyl. It is used to decorate the edge of drywall and is easily put on it. Paints well.
- Cable profile is a specially designed element. Used to install fiber optic cable. A soft cord is inserted inside so that putty does not get on it.
- The Semi-Round Corner Marker is a high-quality tool that creates smooth, beautiful corners.
- Rotate - serves to ensure consistent cable uniformity.
Profile dimensions
For each design idea, you can choose the right profile for drywall. The dimensions are designed so that when mounting the structure, many extra pieces are not thrown away.
profile | length, mm | width, mm | thickness, mm |
UD 27 | 2500, 3000, 4000 | 27 | 0, 37 |
UD 50 | 2500, 3000, 4000 | 50 | 0, 42 |
With the help of a large assortment of different dimensions, it is possible to choose the width and length of the element.
profile | length, mm | thickness, mm | size, mm |
SD 60 | 3000, 4000 | 0, 42 | 60x25 |
CB 50 | 3000, 4000 | 0, 42 | 50x50 |
CB 75 | 3000, 4000 | 0, 42 | 50x75 |
CB 100 | 3000, 4000 | 0, 42 | 50x100 |
Additional fastener
Sometimes builders run into problems when attaching drywall profiles. Their dimensions may be smaller than the required design. Therefore, the use of additional fasteners is necessary.
- A profile connector is a fastener that connects two carrier rails to each other. It is inserted into the ends of two connected elements and fixed with two "fleas" for metal on each side.
- Hangers - come with an anchor clip and straight. This is a metal plate that can be easily bent into a "U" shape and secures the profile to the ceiling.
- Crab - a fastener for installing jumpers located between the rails.
Installation Tools
When working with a profile, you should have some tools:
- metal scissors - they cut or cut off the rail;
- roulette - used for measurements;
- cutter - pierces holes in frame details;
- marker or pencil - assigns cutting lines;
- skrepprofile - pliers for bonding.
Installation and fastening
An important factor is the correct erection and fixing of the structure. First, the level is beaten off with an upholstery cord: for the top - horizontal, and for the walls - vertical. The rails are exposed and attached to the wall with a dowel-nail (size 6x40 mm or 6x60 mm).
Carrier LED is mounted in UD. Then drywall profiles are distributed horizontally. The step sizes are 40 cm, but it should be borne in mind that the butt joint of the sheet should be in the middle of the rail. Reinforced suspensions are fixed to the ceiling along vertical lines in the form of the letter "P" with "beech" dowels. Horizontal metal rails SD are set according to the level andattached to the plates with "fleas".
After completion of all work on the structure of the frame, sheets are screwed onto drywall profiles. The dimensions of the metal screws that fasten the material are 25 mm or 35 mm. Step size - 15 cm.
