At the present time, every person who wants to change their home can make their dreams come true through the use of modern materials. And there is such a variety of them that it is enough just to make an appropriate sketch and enlist the support of a specialist. But if you set out to make repairs with your own hands, you should carefully study the choice of materials and familiarize yourself with their properties. Consider profiles for drywall, types of fasteners and what it is for.
What is the profile for
Recently, you can see that almost all interior decoration structures are made of drywall. These can be curly partitions, straight walls, multi-level ceilings, etc. But drywall sheets cannot be fixed without a holding base, which is a metal profile. Of course, some builders are trying to replace it with a wooden beam, but this option isshort-lived: the tree is able to bend, deform, change its size with changes in air humidity. It is subject to decay and destruction by insects. All metal types of drywall profiles do not swell, do not change dimensions and, thanks to the zinc coating, do not corrode. In addition, notches can be made on the profile shelves, after which it will become curved at the required angle, which will allow for the installation of structures of the most unusual shapes.
What are the types of profile for drywall
There are various profiles for drywall, the types of which differ in characteristics and their purpose. It is worth considering the most popular metal bases and find out what they are used for:
- Ceiling support profile (PP-60 or CD-60). It is used in the manufacture of various decorative elements, incl. and false walls.
- Rack profile, called main (CW-50). It is used for the installation of partitions, which are made of thin drywall.
- Guiding profile view (UD-27) for CD-60. Most often it is used in the manufacture of shelves, slopes, niches, multi-level ceilings and arches.
- Partition profile (rack) CW-100 is used in the manufacture of partitions with a minimum (125 mm) wall thickness.
There are also profiles for drywall, the types of which are marked with symbols UW-50. They are used as guides for the CW-50.
How to choose the right one
When buying building materials, you should be guided by the rule that drywall profiles (the types of which are very diverse) differ in their characteristics and purpose. Since the bearing capacity of structures depends on the thickness of the metal, it is not recommended to use a profile with a thickness of 0.4 mm. Due to its unsatisfactory rigidity, it is used in works not related to the installation of drywall structures. The profile of the economy option is considered to be a product with a thickness of 0.45 mm. A base with such rigidity will be not only durable, but also affordable. A profile with a shelf thickness of 0.55-0.6 mm is considered reinforced. It is suitable for mounting structures of any type, but it costs a little more.
