Fire gates are one of the most popular and commonly used types of fire barriers. It is they who are able to prevent the spread of fire during a fire. In addition, they prevent unauthorized access and participate in shaping the design of houses, structures for various purposes and territories adjacent to them.
A type of fire gate
They are of the following types: retractable, lifting-sectional and swing. The fire resistance of all types of doors is achieved by the fact that they are made of a special fire-resistant material or treated with fire-resistant agents.
Sliding fire gates
This type of fire gate has one indisputable advantage - they significantly save usable space. When opened, the gate leaf rolls back along the fence and completely frees the entrance to the yard (they have no height restrictions).
Retractable fire gates according to the type of construction can be of 2 types:
- Single leaf gate that can open along the doorway in any direction. This will significantly save space inside oror outside the building. This type of gate is very often put in production.
- Double sliding fire gates, opening along the opening in different directions. This type is equipped with additional seals around the entire perimeter of the door to prevent the penetration of smoke and other combustion products into the building. In addition, they perform thermal insulation functions. In this regard, in enterprises with increased fire danger and high traffic intensity, double-leaf fire gates become an indispensable element.
Main functions of sliding gates
This type of fire gate has the following functions:
- Protective. The gate is an excellent protection of the premises from the penetration of unauthorized persons.
- Thermal insulation. Able to keep heat in the room and prevent it from escaping.
- Fire fighting. This function prevents the spread of fire.
- Evacuation. When the doors are opened, a sufficiently large opening opens up, allowing people to freely evacuate from this room. In addition, the opening gives firefighters easy access to the fire.
Fireproof sectional doors
Fireproof sectional doors practically do not differ from conventional sectional doors. Their only distinguishing feature is the filler located inside the panels. In some - foamed polyurethane foam, which has a high density, and in others - bas alt mineral wool, which has fire-resistant properties (it does not give in to combustion and does not melt, does not pass smoke, has a lowthermal conductivity index).
Product design
Along the perimeter of this type of gate there is a special sealing profile, which is made of non-combustible material. This ensures a tight fit and sealing of the opening. It has a special sealing tab that ensures a tight fit between the door leaf and the opening.
Scope of application
As a rule, this type of gate is installed in rooms where an extreme situation with fire is possible, which means that there will be a need for urgent evacuation of personnel, protection of property and the prompt elimination of a fire. Fireproof sectional doors are designed to protect against smoke and fire, in order to prevent them from spreading. They are built into the opening of the premises in factories, in various workshops, dryers, foundries and smelters, etc.
Swing fire gates
They are installed anywhere. They are characterized by ease of operation and maintenance, high reliability and durability. Their only drawback is that they need a sufficient amount of space for their opening, which can be carried out both inside and towards the street.
Swing fire gates are often equipped with a fire door that opens in the same way as the gate itself.
A separate category of swing-type structures is fire-prevention metal gates. For outdoor themdecoration uses special metal plates, which are highly durable.
