Forged gates, gates, fences have been used for more than a decade in everyday life. Today they are not particularly rare, but still remain inaccessible to most of our fellow citizens. Basically, they have a decorative function, although they are used for their main purpose - to fence off the territory of a certain owner from another space.
Varieties of forged gates
The gate, made with elements of artistic forging, can be transparent, opening the view of the courtyard, or solid, when the front side is closed with a metal sheet, on which ornamental patterns can be intertwined on one or both sides.
Translucent polycarbonate can be used to facilitate construction. It's more affordable and looks good enough.
Even cheaper, but also practical and aesthetic gates with forged elements.
Independent work on the manufacture of these products is quite complicated, but with a certain patience, you can bring the sketches of forged gates to life.
Create a project and purchase materials
In this case, the project is called a sketch. Wrought iron gates, gates and other goods made in this way must have it. It can be invented by the manufacturer or selected from the appropriate catalogs.
After determining the appearance of the future gate, it is necessary to purchase materials designed to bring the sketch to life. The frame can be created from a profile with a section of 30x20 mm.
Rods are made from thicker material. Small curls are made from a square rod with a small section.
Material preparation
For the manufacture of forged gates, the purchased material must be prepared. Achieving this goal is carried out using a grinder (cutting a profile pipe and a rod) and a pipe bender. When cutting, the materials must be turned over to obtain a smooth edge.
The pipe bender is used in cases where the design of the gate provides for a curved top bar in the frame. In this case, it should be borne in mind that the edges on both sides must remain even by at least 10 cm.
Preparing Parts
They start it after preparing all the details of the frame. It is carried out on any flat surface. All parts are laid out in the appropriate order and welded into a single structure.

Curls are made on a machine called a "snail". Despite the fact that they are thinner, it is better to warm them up as well. If it is necessary to create symmetrical curls, they are twisted in the same way, alternately on each side, trying to maintain symmetry.
If there are spike-shaped elements in the design, an “eccentric” machine is used for their manufacture. Their production should be accompanied by a turn of the workpiece each time at a right angle. Peaks begin to be made by cutting diamond-shaped or square blanks from sheet metal. The bulkiness of these elements is given by heating on a high-temperature fire until a white color appears on the metal. After that, with the help of tongs, they are transferred to the anvil, where they splash with a large hammer. The resulting elements are cooled either in natural conditions or for the purpose of quenching in cold water.
Clamps fastening curls or leaves are made of metal plates that are small in size (20x2 mm), which give a finished look to forgedproduct and hide the welding spots.
The bars of a forged gate are twisted to give them a twisted shape on a machine called a torsion bar. In order to get the same blanks, each of them must be scrolled on it the same number of times.
Assembling the structure
The forged gate is assembled slowly, constantly referring to the sketch in order to avoid errors when welding various elements.
After the assembler makes sure that the pattern is correct and symmetrical, the parts are fastened together with small welds, and then they are cleaned with a metal brush and a grinding wheel.
If there are complex elements such as leaves or flowers in the sketch of gates or gates, it is better to purchase them at the point of sale where they are sold. They are welded last.
Painting gates and wickets
After welding the elements and degreasing them at the welding points, they start painting. First, if a three-in-one mixture is not used, a primer is applied, and after it dries, paint. In this case, its matte variety is used, as a rule, black. Some elements of the designs in question may be covered with patina or silver plated.
Gates and gates can be left openwork or partially (completely) sewn up with profiled sheet, carboxyl.

The main difficulty in the manufacture of the products in question is forged elements. But at present, you can not make them yourself, but simply purchase them at specialized outlets.
This does not cancel the creation of a sketch of future gates or gates. After carefully studying it and counting the number of necessary elements, they go to this outlet to make a purchase.
The wicket frame is made from a profile or a metal pipe. In this case, you will still need welding skills.
After that, the forged elements are laid out in the required order, the symmetry is checked and they are tacked with welding seams.

Mounting forged structures
Gates and gates are hung on metal or concrete poles. The former should have a larger diameter compared to the profile used in the manufacture of forged structures.
First, they dig a hole with a shovel or a drill. The depth of digging is determined by the type of soil, its mechanical composition, and the depth of freezing. Sand and gravel fall asleep to create an appropriate pillow. The columns are inserted strictly vertically. The free space is covered with broken bricks or rubble, after which it is poured with cement-sand mortar (1: 3) or concrete. It freezes within 3 days.
Pillars can be made of stone. They must be reinforced with metalrods and install on the foundation.
The number of loops per sash is determined by how heavy the gate is. Usually they are hung 2 pieces, for heavier ones use three. The lower hinge is placed at a distance of 40 cm from the edge of the sash frame.
The gates must be hung in such a way that at least 8 cm remain to the surface of the unpaved area.

Types of forged gates
The following types of products under consideration are distinguished:
- swing - the most common, the sash opens in both directions;
- retractable - a solid canvas with a rollback along the fence;
- automatic - can be both hinged and retractable - are used to open them from the remote control.

Positive and negative qualities of forged products
The plus is that they always look elegant, are durable and reliable. In addition, they are eco-friendly and can be combined with any outdoor elements.
However, they also have disadvantages:
- mounting process is rather complicated;
- high cost of products.
Care for forged structures
It consists in wiping them, periodically touching up when old paint peels off, lubricating moving parts to preventcreak. In the presence of a large number of forged elements, washing is carried out with a powerful jet of water.
