The cost of an ordinary mobile cart is over 6,000 rubles. But you can make a design with your own hands from metal, wood, profile. Self-assembly saves 80% of financial resources. And if a do-it-yourself tool cart is made of wood, then the assembly elements can be easily found at hand. The only thing you need to buy is the wheels.

Tools

Inventory for work is probably available at any construction company. You will need the following:

  • roulette;
  • angle;
  • pencil;
  • jigsaw;
  • hacksaw for precise wood cutting;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • screwdriver.

It is easier to make a do-it-yourself tool cart from sketches, drawings and photos, since the exact dimensions and appearance of the product will be indicated.

Materials

If the tree can be found at hand, then some important materials will have to be bought. The following must be added to the list:

  • iron corners for a strong connection of elements;
  • plywood, MDF sheets - so that their thickness is at least 1 cm;
  • wooden bars with a cross section of 5 cm or more;
  • 4 wheels;
  • varnish or paint;
  • antiseptic impregnations.
  • swivel wheels

The material is bought with a margin of 10-15%, since marriage may occur, and the master will have to go back to the store for wood - this is a waste of time.

Building a wooden cart

Having prepared everything you need - tools, sketch, material - you need to get to work. The product in appearance resembles a narrowed rectangle.

This design holds more parts, the cart is easier to move, and it will also fit freely through doorways. Assembly progress:

  1. The preferred dimensions of the do-it-yourself tool trolley: length - 120 cm, height - 90 cm, width - 60 cm. Therefore, the material is cut based on these dimensions.
  2. Make the bottom of the frame. Lay blanks 60 cm long and 120 cm beech "G". A lock is cut out at the junction with a hacksaw. If the width of the bar is 5 cm, then 2.5 cm are measured from the end in length, and 2.5 cm in width from the edge. Elements join and tighten. The remaining parts are made in the same way.
  3. Supports are attached to the constructed lower frame. In the course of work, locks are cut out and the part is fastened with screws. Use a square to make the construction even.
  4. The upper frame is mounted in the same way as the lower one. They assemble a rectangle from the bars, cut out the locks, turn the product over - it's easier to work. Andscrew the blanks with self-tapping screws.
  5. If the height of the cart is 90 cm, then it is divided into 3-4 parts of 22, 5 or 30 cm each. Draw lines symmetrically on the supports with a pencil. Roulette will help with this. On the inside of the racks, recesses for locks are cut out. Attach a jumper and screw it on. This is done on 4 sides. That is, they make the same frames as the upper and lower ones.
  6. 4 boards 2 cm thick and 60 cm long are attached to the jumpers of the first level, plywood or MDF is wound on top. This is done on all tiers.
  7. Below symmetrically and firmly screw the bars onto which 4 wheels are attached.
  8. In the upper part, 2 short bars are attached to make a distance of 7 cm from the frame, and a handle 30 cm long is attached.
  9. At the end, the product is treated with antiseptics, varnish or paint.

If possible, instead of open tiers, drawers can be made using plywood, thinner bars and furniture corners with rollers that allow the elements to be pulled out.

Inventory for a metal mobile structure

To make an iron cart, you need basic welding skills. Also need to purchase:

  • welding machine;
  • mask with protective glass C-3 or C-4;
  • 3 mm electrodes;
  • canvas mittens;
  • hammer;
  • grinder;
  • angle;
  • roulette;
  • thread;
  • scribing.

Do not weld metal without protective equipment, otherwise you can get burns thatwill heal for a long time.

Iron parts

Material for work will require a minimum. It is advisable to use non-rusty, rotten elements, otherwise the service life of the product will decrease. Items needed:

  • corners or square pipes with a section of 4 cm;
  • 2mm thick metal sheets;
  • handle fittings;
  • rubber hose;
  • paint;
  • 4 wheels.

In time, a do-it-yourself tool cart made of wood takes much longer than a metal one. In the second option, it is not necessary to make locks for joining wood.

Production steps

For work, choose a flat area, for example, a concrete slab. Materials are cut to the desired size and set to work:

  1. From corners or square pipes, a frame is assembled in 3 tiers. 2 elements are laid with the letter “G”, the connection is tack welded.
  2. Install racks and do spot tacks in the same way. Evenness is checked with a square, if the part is deviated from the norm, then it is knocked out with a hammer.
  3. The connecting parts of the frame are scalded. Shelves are made from sheet metal and welded on.
  4. The box is turned over, iron elements are attached below, on which 4 wheels will be attached. These 4 parts must be installed exactly to each other using a tape measure and thread.
  5. In the upper part from the end of the cart, 2 pieces of reinforcement are welded - the basis for the handle. A rubber hose is put on the rod and attached by welding to the rods. Product in appearancelooks like a football goal.
  6. The seams are tapped with a hammer and the slag is removed. If there are uncooked places, then they are scalded again.
  7. Connections are lightly cleaned with a grinder. If the leg of the seam is greatly reduced, then the strength of the joints will decrease.
  8. The product is cleaned from possible rust and painted.
