The cold is coming. There was a need for space heating. The best option for heating in your home is to build a stove. The main part of any oven is the grate, a part of the device that has not undergone reconstruction for many years.

Pig-iron grates are part of oven grates, which are installed in furnaces for heating. They can also be used for wood-fired saunas. Grid grates consist of several cast-iron grates and serve to ensure the combustion of fuel in furnaces. This is due to the supply of oxygen to the lower layer of the firebox. If there are no cast-iron grates, combustion in furnaces is impossible, since without access to oxygen, the combustion process will not occur.

The advantages of cast-iron grates will be considered using the example of a bath, where high temperature plays a major role in the supply of steam. If grates made of steel are installed, then when heated to a temperature of 1000 ºС, scale will form, which will lead to the destruction of the grate. Therefore, all cast iron grates are made of heat-resistant cast iron, which can withstand high heating temperatures.

Fireplaces with their own hands
Fireplaces with their own hands

Lovers of comfort and additional warmth often arrange fireplaces in their homes. A fireplace folded and finished with an original design with your own hands gives the house a special atmosphere of comfort. It is the simplest furnace in which the firebox is open and made in the form of a niche. Due to radiant energy, the room is heated, although the main heat goes into the pipe and only a small part of it enters the room (about 10-20%). Therefore, along with a fireplace, it is desirable to have another alternative type of space heating (stove, batteries, etc.).

The fireplace in the house creates an intense air exchange, due to which the room is ventilated. It protects it from unpleasant odors and mold on the walls.

The owner himself chooses the shape and size of the fireplace. They can be very diverse, but the principle of construction is the same for everyone.

The main elements of the fireplace:

- body;

- firebox compartment;

- smoke collector;

- smoke channel.

Fireplace fuel is usually hardwood. They burn on the hearth of the firebox, which is made of fire-resistant material. It can be granite, concrete or clinker. Under the firebox, a ash pan is installed to collect the ashes. Sometimes it can not be used, but then it is necessary to raise the grate by 100-150 cm above the firebox floor. Instead of a grate, cast iron grates can be used. They are installed in several pieces, depending on the size of the fireplace. Then the ash will collect under the grate.

At the bottom of the chimney, its pyramidal expansion begins - the smoke box. It serves to better collect smoke.

When installing a fireplace, fire safety measures must be taken. Sometimes fireplace stoves for summer cottages are additionally equipped with a door made of refractory glass. It not only serves as a fire-fighting agent, but also partially retains heat.

Everyone who has even a little experience in construction work can install a fireplace in their home.
