In order for the TV to start showing, it must be connected to a cable television system or to the main home antenna, satellite dishes are also used. To connect one of these systems to a TV set, a connection device such as a TV antenna plug is used. Consider the rules for preparing and directly connecting a plug to a TV.
Antenna plug
At first, when TVs appeared and came into use en masse, antenna connectors were soldered to the cable. In the future, the antenna plug was improved, it began to be produced without the use of soldering. It began to be a sleeve, which is wound onto the cut end of the cable. For a high-quality picture, it is necessary to ensure good contact between the antenna plug and the TV, if this is not achieved, the image on the screen will be noisy.
It is not necessary to invitespecialist, all manipulations can be carried out independently, for this you need to have all the parts of the mounted plug and a regular clerical knife.
TV cable
Antenna cable is a multi-layer wire, which, thanks to the inner screen, is able to transmit a stable signal without interference. The core of the cable is made from a single-core copper wire (copper is a good conductor, with virtually no loss in signal transmission). The core is encased in an insulating sheath that prevents contact with the shield.
The screen is made of aluminum in the form of a foil that completely covers the inner shell of the insulation. Above is the main insulation to protect against the external environment and mechanical damage.
When choosing an antenna cable, you should pay attention to the marking, namely the number 75. It means the frequency of the resistance waves of the cable, located on the cable next to the footage value. Also, when looking for a suitable antenna plug, it is recommended to purchase type F. Such connectors are designed for both analog and digital broadcasting of television programs, they are made in various diameters, depending on the operating conditions.
Cable preparation
In order to proceed with the installation of the antenna plug, you must have all the necessary parts and a clerical knife. There are two methods of installation: with twisting the shielding braid and without twisting. For the best picture quality of TV broadcasts, the screen must be wrapped along the cable in the opposite direction.direction:
- Using a utility knife, cut the main insulation about 1 cm, then remove it completely.
- The screen braid is wrapped along the cable in the opposite direction.
- After the core is removed from the internal insulation by 1 cm, then the antenna plug is screwed on.
- Using wire cutters, cut off the central wire so that it protrudes from the union nut by 0.4 cm.
- Then the second part is screwed onto the plug until it stops.
The connector is ready to use for receiving both analogue and digital TV broadcasts.
Features of connecting to a TV
In order to connect the antenna plug to the TV, you must have a type F connector. It is worth paying attention to the fact that if the user does not understand how to connect the plug, he should contact a specialist, because if the installation is incorrect, the analog and digital signal may work poorly and distort the picture of the TV.
When choosing a cable to connect the antenna, you need to pay attention to the signal current resistance. Cables with a resistance of 75 ohms are widely used; they transmit the signal with the highest quality without significant losses. For suspended installation of a TV, it is recommended to use an angled antenna plug.
