The ceiling should be combined with the interior of the room, harmoniously fitting into it, and, of course, match the taste of the tenant himself. It would seem that it could be easier than repairing the ceiling - he removed the old, dilapidated layer of whitewash, washed it and whitened it again. But today such coverage is already outdated. There are many ways to decorate the ceiling with creativity and imagination. Of course, you will have to work hard and spend money. But such efforts and spent finances will pay off with a beautiful interior.
Repairing the ceiling first of all depends on how you would like to see it, and only then - on your finances. Of course, the simplest solution is to level, putty, and then cover it with a layer of white enamel. This is if you do not want to "bother" and spend precious time repairing the ceiling. In addition, this solution is suitable for almost any kind of interior.
However, if you have the time and desire, and the necessary funds, it makes sense to use a more original way to repair the ceiling. The surface does not have to be white, other colors will do. And, of course, ceiling repair does not involve only painting or whitewashing. Can be used,for example, such types of finishes as hanging, stretching, plasterboard, self-adhesive.
Where to start repairing the ceiling? Naturally, with the preparation of its surface, although in some cases it is not required. There are two main ways to make alignment - the so-called "dry" and "wet".
The first is to apply some mixtures to the pre-prepared ceiling.
"Dry" method is the use of panels, slats and other "dry" finishing materials. It does not require any preparation. If the surface difference is less than 5 cm, then the "raw" method is acceptable.
If the difference in height is not more than five millimeters, then it can be repaired with a leveling putty. It is smeared on the ceiling with a thin layer, then sanded with fine-grained sandpaper.
If this difference is from 2 to 5 centimeters, then putty alone will not be enough; first you have to put the so-called "bandage" - that is, a reinforcing mesh. It can be metal or paint. The first type resembles a medical bandage, it is also sometimes called sickle. Glue it to the ceiling with PVA glue or other reliable types of glue. The main thing is that it is well fixed. There is also a self-adhesive variety of sickle.
Unlike the paint mesh, the metal mesh is attached not with the help of PVA and similar means, but with special staples, nails with a wide hat or hooks. It is advised to fix it on all types of seams and joints. After the plaster has dried, a layer of putty is applied to level it.surfaces. If the finish coat will be painting, then a preliminary primer will also be required. Experts advise using materials from the same manufacturer for "compatibility" of materials.
There is a group of false ceilings. These are designs that do not require
suspension, but are attached directly to the base surface. Materials used for the installation of false ceilings: polystyrene foam boards (durable, durable, non-flammable, have an original design), chipboard boards (their minus is that they contain substances harmful to he alth), plasterboard panels (have sound and heat insulating properties, perfectly even). The latter require additional painting or plating. Such plates are glued to the ceiling with glue - PVA or UPC. Plasterboard materials are used if the room has a height of more than two and a half meters.
It is worth talking separately about the stretch ceiling. Its advantage is good
Waterproofing and ease of installation. This is, in fact, a vinyl film fixed on an aluminum or plastic profile. The latter are fixed with self-tapping screws and dowels. Stretch ceiling repair depends on the type of damage. A small puncture in the vinyl film is repaired with glue. If a cut occurs at a distance of 8 to 12 cm from the wall, then the stretch ceiling must be unfastened, cut the canvas along the side of the cut and weld the harpoon again, and then install the structure in place.
When renovating the ceiling in the bathroom, remember to use only moisture resistant materials.
