The sofa in the modern interior plays a leading role. It is based on his choice that the rest of the details are selected. To choose the right sofa for your room, you need to study all the options for models, taking into account the characteristics of your room, the size of the room and the purpose. Modern variants can be classified into four categories:

  1. Depending on the unfolding mechanism used by the structure.
  2. The features of the form anddesign.
  3. Distinguish different styles based on the purpose of the room.
  4. Consider the dimensions of the sofa and the number of people who can comfortably fit on it.

Let's consider each category separately so that the user can well imagine all the variety of types and models.

Feature of forms

In terms of the difference in shape, sofas can be:

  • angular;
  • straight;
  • island.

The most famous and familiar to us since Soviet times are straight sofas. Modern methods of sheathing and designing such options do not make them very different from those models that we have known for a long time. Another type, and no less familiar, is used mainly for furnishing the living room. These are modern corner sofas, or "corners", as they are called by the people. Very comfortable type, but not suitable for every room. Their main advantage is space saving with a sufficiently large capacity. And the last, more modern type is island sofas. Such models are not placed against the wall, they need a lot of free space, and the design of the room must match, otherwise the sofa will look ridiculous.

What are we looking for?

Depending on the room we are looking for a sofa, its model and style depend. So, for example, a modern sofa in the living room may look different than for a children's room or office. You must understand that the models are very different, and before you buy one of them, study allpossible options. The lineup developers distinguish models into those that can stand:

  • in the office;
  • in the hallway;
  • in the living room;
  • in the kitchen;
  • in the nursery.

There are, of course, universal options that can be placed both in the office and in the hallway of the house, but basically all models are clearly designed in accordance with the purpose. Bright colors of children's sofas are difficult to confuse with the official style of leather or leatherette office model. Also, models for functional rooms are sheathed with a material that is easier to clean. So this point also cannot be ignored.

Sizes

Modern sofa is available in different sizes, and it's up to you which model to choose. Considering the peculiarity of your room, choose the most comfortable size. The sofa should not take up too much space and get in the way, but too small an option will not bring any benefit. Therefore, carefully consider all the nuances before buying. If in Soviet times there were some standards in size, now there is no limitation in the length or width of models. Each manufacturer produces such options for sofas that he considers necessary. All that can be said in this category is that there are small sofas designed for two or three people, and there are large sofas for five or more people. In this case, a double model can have a length of 1.4 meters, or maybe 1.8 meters. So take a tape measure, imagination and go!

And now wewe would like to dwell in more detail on some models of sofas that use different folding mechanisms. If everything is clear with the purpose, shape and size, then with the mechanisms everything is different. Here you need to clearly understand how your option will be analyzed so as not to get into a mess. Otherwise, you may find yourself in a situation where your sofa is disassembled, resting against the wall, or it simply cannot be disassembled for lack of space. In the store, of course, you can expand and see the whole process, but when ordering via the Internet, you can make a big mistake. We present you the main types of mechanisms.

Models "book", "eurobook", "classic sofa", "cougar"

Even a simple sofa, with the right modern style, will decorate any room. These four models are considered classic and the most simple.

  • "Book". Suitable for both living room and bedroom. Dimensions allow you to use it as a bed. It folds out very simply by raising the front end to a click sound and then lowering it all the way down. In order for the sofa to stand in the unfolded form close to the wall, you need to move it a little.
  • "Eurobook". Great for the elderly, as it is easy to unfold. Pulling the front part towards you, roll it forward. After that, we simply lower the back to an empty place.
  • "Classic sofa". This model is similar to the previous one. Only in this case, it is not the back that unfolds, but the seat itself. The advantage isthe presence of a large storage box in the sofa.
  • "Puma". The basis for the model was the "Eurobook" variant. The difference is that the front of the sofa does not roll out, but is pulled out. After that, the opened void is covered with a rear back.

Changing over the years and undergoing modifications, the sofa acquires a modern design. More and more new models are presented to buyers. The following variants are considered newer.

Models "dolphin", "roll-out", "clamshell", "accordion"

  • "Dolphin". The name of the model comes from how the unfolding procedure looks like. Reminds me of a dolphin diving into the water. Pulling one part of the sofa by the loop, we pull it out to the level with the main part. After that, taking another loop on the corresponding part, we draw out the hidden part of the seat and get a large and comfortable sofa.
  • "Vatable". Already by the name it is clear that the front part rolls forward. Reminiscent of the classic sofa model, but in this model, the upper part unfolds in the opposite direction.
  • "Clamshell". The model resembles a standard clamshell, familiar to us from Soviet times. Having removed the pillows, you simply lay out the model forward, while you need to take into account that you will sleep perpendicular to the wall. For such a sofa, you need enough space for unfolding.
  • "Accordion". Combines "roll-out" and "folding" models. In this case, picking up a loop, you simultaneously roll out and unfold the sleeping part of the sofa, which resembles a game onaccordion.

Pantograph, click-clack, tick-tock, lit models

Already by the name it can be assumed that these mechanisms appeared the latest. And although their names are unfamiliar to us, the principle of action has been known for a long time.

  • Click-clack. A modern sofa that has several options for intermediate positions: sitting, half-sitting, reclining, lying. The folding procedure is simple. You need to tilt the sofa back, and return only the front part.
  • "Pantograph". It resembles the “Eurobook” option, but in this case the roller mechanism is not used in the model, and the front part does not touch the floor after unfolding. This creates a feeling of lightness.
  • "Tick-tock." The model is a mixture of the "dolphin" and "roll-out" models. Accordingly, only the front part unfolds, compared with the main seat, while a retractable mechanism is used, and not a folding one.
  • "Lit". It is used most often for a nursery, as the model turns into a single bed by folding out the armrests. In this case, you can not fully decompose by making a semi-sitting option.

Reviews

The choice of model depends entirely on the taste and preference of the buyer. After studying a lot of reviews, we came to the conclusion that all options are unique and have their own advantages. Much of the choice depends on the reliability of the manufacturer. Often people complain that in the process of using the mechanisms break down, the frame cracks, the skin bursts. Having bought a cheap sofa, it is difficult to countfor its long term service. Therefore, before making a choice, think, weigh all the pros and cons, and only then make a final decision.
