How is MDF made?
MDF-panel is made from lignocellulosic softwood or hardwood fibers in a "dry" way, that is, with a fiber moisture content of less than 20% at the molding stage. The raw materials are waste lumber, knots and sawdust, which are crushed, softening with hot steam using special screw mechanisms. As an adhesive, urea formaldehyde and a wax emulsion are used. Drying of fibers with adhesive mixture is forced for a long time. The dry mixture is formed on the plate with gradual compression. Then the formed plate is treated with pressure and temperature, and its color changes from light to chocolate. After cooling, each panel is cut to size and sanded.
