A propane gas reducer is a device designed to reduce the total pressure of gas in a system (which, as a rule, is a gas pipeline or cylinder) to a working one. Also, this mechanism is able to automatically maintain the required level of this agent, regardless of the indications in the container itself, in which it is located.
Technical parameters of industrial and domestic gas appliances
Often a propane reducer (including BPO 5-4) forms a liquid at the inlet with a pressure of about 25 atmospheres. The mechanisms that are used on methane cylinders are compressed 10 times more - up to 250 atmospheres. At the same time, propane pressure at the outlet can range from 1 to 16 atm, depending on the specific model and type of device. The flow rate also depends on the type of gearbox. The weakest devices consume several tens of liters per hour, the strongest can process up to several hundred cubic meters.
Working algorithm
The principle of operation of this tool is not the same. It depends on the type of construction. There is a propane reducer with a falling characteristic (in which the pressure from the cylinder decreases as the liquid is consumed). It has the principle of direct action. For devices with an increasing characteristic (when the gas decreases and at the same time the working pressure in the system increases), the reverse algorithm of operation.
Types of gas reducers:
- Air.
- Oxygen.
- Propane.
- Acetylene.
- Reducers for combustible gases.
The first type of device is used most often in industrial enterprises as a device to reduce the degree of air compression and maintain its stable value in the system.
Oxygen devices are also used for industrial purposes, but they are often found in the field of mechanical engineering and metallurgy. They are especially in demand for gas welding, soldering and metal cutting.
A household propane gas reducer can be used as a regulator in containers for supplying liquid from a cylinder to a gas stove. In addition, it is used in HBO cars and is involved in autogenous work. Its adjustment range can vary from 0 to 3 kgf/cm2.
The acetylene reducer is used in the utility industry for cutting and laying pipelines, and can be divided into devices for non-flammable and combustible gases. By the way, the latter have a left-hand thread (this is necessary in order to excludeunauthorized connection of the mechanism to the oxygen cylinder). Accordingly, combustible gas regulators are characterized by right-hand threads, as are oxygen tanks.
Conclusion
Thus, the propane reducer against the background of all other devices differs in that it is often used for domestic purposes and in mechanical engineering. Almost every cylinder with such a gas is equipped directly with this device, from which a thick rubber hose already goes, and is threaded to the stove for subsequent supply of liquid to the burners.
