In the manufacture of beds, pallets can serve as a base. From an economic point of view, this option will be very profitable - ready-made factory frames cost much more. You can buy new pallets, or you can buy already used ones. In the latter version, the cost of the material, in a successful scenario, can be purely symbolic.
Option for lazy people
A pallet bed in its simplest form can consist of four identical ready-made "frames" that must be fastened together. A mattress of a suitable size is purchased separately. This bed can be either single or double. You can build a suitable headboard from pallets. It should match the width of the main bed.
Bedwith mattress box
You can assemble a bed from pallets by assembling a box from them, which will fit a mattress of a suitable size. To do this, turn the wooden pallet over and carefully cut out the middle support. After that, fix the cut-out part between the two side ones so that the letter "P" is formed. Do the same with the second pallet. When both "halves" of the future "frame" of the bed are ready, connect them with suitable planks. The finished "box" should be installed on two pallets, stacked and secured together.
Small bed
By installing and fastening two pallets together, you can easily build a single bed or crib. You can paint it with paint or decorate it beautifully with fabric or leatherette. All you have to do is place a suitable mattress on top and cover it with bedding.

Bed light
Purchase an extension cord for two outlets of the appropriate length (it should reach from the bed to the outlet). You will need duralight (luminous cord, can be purchased at stores selling lighting fixtures) - two pieces of 185 cm each. Buy suitable fasteners (sometimes they come directly with duralight) and small self-tapping screws. A backlit pallet bed will turn out great if you install the glowing cord correctly. How to do it?
Instructions
- Connect the plugs to the duralight. All contacts must enter deeply into the channels through which the wiring passes.
- Put the cap on the free end of the luminous cord.
- Attach an electrical cord to each piece of prepared duralight.
- Check the functionality of the finished pieces by connecting them to the mains.
- After that, you can screw the duralight around the perimeter of the frame (on the sides). A distance of 25 cm must be maintained.
- Fix the cord tightly in the bindings.
- Check the construction by connecting pieces of duralight to the network.
- Replace the mattress.
As you can see, assembling a pallet bed with your own hands is not difficult at all.
Many of those who plan to make a bed out of pallets see it as "one-story". However, you can build it and "multi-storey". By the way, the “floors” can serve as convenient shelves for your favorite books and other nice “little things.”
An interesting and practical option would be to install the bed on wheels. With the help of them, you can easily and simply move your bed to any place. Remember that the weight of such a bed is large enough, so for this design you should purchase powerful wheels designed for heavy loads.
To prolong the life of your new furniture, we recommend painting the product with paint or varnish. It is advisable to cover the bed with two or three layers. ATDepending on your taste, you can vary the color scheme. For example, white furniture will remind you of distant Scandinavia, and soft gray will remind you of Belgium.
Some people prefer natural wood color and don't want to paint pallets. However, it should be remembered that only absolutely new pallets can not be washed or painted. After all, it is not known what goods were transported on these pallets; it is possible that subsequently the organic matter in the wood will begin to decompose and emit an unpleasant odor. This can be avoided by carefully treating the wood with special disinfectants, such as bleach.
