Laying paving slabs is a process that takes place in several stages. Initially, it is necessary to determine the shape of the tile itself, its color, including the color composition of the composition, the purpose of the area where the installation will be carried out, its dimensions, and so on. Once these standards are defined, you can get to work. The key to reliability and durability of the coating is proper installation. Paving slabs during operation are subjected to heavy loads and the influence of climatic conditions, and that is why the above process must be approached properly.
The soil is different everywhere, and that is why it is necessary to determine the base layers for tiles, their thickness and types. This directly affects the condition of the coating and its reliability. As a rule, the main layer is a gravel-sand cushion, if the conditions are more difficult, then concrete is pouredbase. High demands are placed on it - the surface must be carefully planned, leveled, taking into account slopes for water drainage. Schemes for laying paving slabs may be different (with embedded drawings, etc.).
Gravel-sand pillow. Laying
Paving slabs are laid on the planned site. It is necessary to measure it, draw up a plan, determine the number of tiles and materials for the base. As a consumable, sand, cement, crushed stone or gravel is meant. The site is divided into zones using pegs and twine according to a previously drawn up plan.
The first stage is the excavation of the soil on which the laying will be carried out. In this case, it should be borne in mind that the surface of the coating (the front of the tile) protrudes forty centimeters above the site. If this place provides for the laying of communications, you should take care of this in advance. Otherwise, the paving will have to be disassembled, which will lead to a waste of time and money. Laying (paving slabs have different areas of use) of gravel or crushed stone is carried out in a layer of 10-15 centimeters thick for footpaths and 15-20 centimeters for car parks. After that, the layer is rammed with a vibrotamper.
To prevent sand from spilling through the rubble, a layer of geosynthetic material is laid. It may be of different brands. When choosing it, it is necessary to be guided by future loads. Then a layer of sand is laid (40-45 centimeters) withsubsequent rammer. After that, you need to align the surface using the rule.
Laying tiles
Cement-sand mixture is prepared in proportions of 1 to 5 and is laid in a layer of 30-50 centimeters and rammed. Laying (paving slabs must be free of defects, chips and cracks) is carried out on an absolutely flat and maximally dense surface by hand, in case of a fuzzy match with neighboring elements, it can be trimmed with a rubber mallet. Alignment by level is carried out relative to neighboring elements. It is recommended to leave a gap between the tiles of 1-2 millimeters, for this construction crosses are used.
Laying is done from the corner with whole bars. In difficult areas, if this is required and the whole element does not fit, it is cut with a grinder. When the process is completed, the paved surface is sprinkled with fine sand and the gaps between the tiles are rubbed with a hard bristled mop.
The cost of laying paving slabs depends on the complexity of the work, on the area of the site. Spending on this process will pay off with interest, because well-paved paths will serve you for many years.
