Polycarbonate in construction appeared relatively recently and has already firmly taken a strong position, displacing glass, wood and film. It, due to its plasticity, allows you to create the most intricate architectural forms. The owners of a private courtyard appreciated the possibility of using it in the manufacture of a porch, greenhouses, greenhouses, etc. This material is quite easy to install and has high strength, as well as good light transmission. A polycarbonate porch is inexpensive and quite practical.
Required tools
When planning to build a polycarbonate porch, you should take care of finding the necessary tools for the job. You will need: a drill, a screwdriver with nozzles, a grinder, a 220 V welding machine.
Required Materials
- Square metal profile. If you need to build a fairly spacious polycarbonate porch, you should take a large section profile. The area of such a canopy will turn out to be large, which is good, because it must withstand a significant snow load in the winter season.
- Self-tapping screws with thermal washers for fastenerspolycarbonate. They should be selected according to the thickness of the material.
- Tapes and end profiles are needed in order to hide the ends of the polycarbonate from the possible ingress of dust and insects.
- Primer and exterior metal paint will be needed to keep the porch looking nice and prevent corrosion on the metal.
- 6-8 mm thick polycarbonate.
Polycarbonate porch roof. Construction assembly steps
The polycarbonate porch should have a canopy that will cover the platform that serves as the foundation and entrance to the room.
- At the first stage, a frame is constructed to which sheets of the product will be attached. For this purpose, a galvanized metal profile will be most suitable.
- At the second stage, support posts are installed to ensure the stability of the structure. For each of them, you need to dig a hole about 1.5 m deep, and concrete the support in them. This should be done for the entire foundation. The distance between the supports should not be left more than 2 meters. The foundation created in this way should dry out within two days.
- At the third stage, the transverse supports are installed. To give the canopy the shape of an arch, they must be bent. The transverse supports are interconnected by spacers.
- At the fourth stage, the polycarbonate is adjusted to the dimensions of the assembled frame. Here you can already see the almost finished design.
- At the fifth stage, the polycarbonate is arched. To do this, attach the profile, make small cuts on it every 4 cm and only then bend it.
- At the last stage, the curved polycarbonate is fastened to the supports and the frame. Mounting holes are made at a distance of 30 cm.
- And finally, all the edges of the structure are glued.
You can look at the polycarbonate porch, the photo of which is presented here, and make sure that this is an excellent material for such structures.
