Decor in the Provence style already in its name contains the name of the place where this style originated from, namely the province of Provence, which is located near the Mediterranean Sea, in the south of France. This style can be described as ethnic, rustic, a kind of French country. The elements of such an interior are very simple and discreet. Deliberately rough plaster walls, worn surfaces, faded fabrics - all this creates the illusion of poverty, but in reality it is only an illusion
zia, because this poverty is decorative, and one must also be able to recreate it. Otherwise, indeed, instead of an interesting, neat and cozy interior, you will get an unfinished shack.
Fabrics are an integral part of Provencal design. They are everywhere and there are many of them. Bedspreads, blankets, covers, rugs, napkins, tablecloths, curtains in the Provence style give the room an incredible comfort and warmth. Colors can be varied. Most often, “cheerful” natural shades are used in the design, which look like they burned out in the sun a long time ago. If there is no drawing on the walls, then it must be on textiles without fail. Small and large floral ornaments, flowers, cells,stripes - all this must be present in order to get into such a house, feel almost like a grandmother in the village. Curtains in Provence style and other textiles should be, if possible, made of natural fabrics. It can be linen, chintz, cotton. In general, curtains of this style should look organic on the window and emphasize the rustic design. The most popular colors of Provencal curtains are flowers, as well as a check and a strip in white and red or white and blue colors. For the bedroom, you can purchase muted bluish, delicate and soft curtains.
Most of all, you can "walk around" in the nursery, decorating cheerful, sunny curtains in the Provence style with a variety of frills, bows, fringes and similar decorations. It is better to hang curtains to the eaves not on eyelets, but on fabric loops: there is less noise and it looks a little like a doll. For children - just right. But you can hang Provence-style curtains in the same way in the kitchen. Beige, with terracotta stripes or cages, half-window curtains will look very cool.
As for furniture, it is preferable that it be massive enough, made of natural wood (chestnut, oak, walnut), painted and had traces of scuffs and other "age" defects. Of course, all chips, wormholes and burn marks are made artificially. Decoupage in Provence style can add even more chic to the interior.
