In addition, even insignificant elements sometimes play a key role in creating a complete picture. And here it is impossible to decide: the plinth or the floor covering is more important - all these components allow you to form a harmonious picture. If you decide to fix skirting boards, then you should familiarize yourself with the basic technologies, one of which will surely suit you.
Glue skirting board
Installation of plastic plinth can be done with glue. This method is the most common, and various types of compositions, including liquid nails, can be used in the process. The advantage of this technique is that no drilling is required. As a result, dust will not form, and the work will not seem dirty. Do not rush to glue the plinth, at the first stage you need to align everything, andafter install the items without glue. After all the components are adjusted, as well as tried on, the elements can be installed in their places. The disadvantage of this method is the one-time use of the skirting board, its reuse will be impossible, and dismantling will worsen its appearance. Among other things, there is a need for certain skills in working with glue.
Features of working with glue
Some formulations completely exclude the possibility of the mixture getting on the surface of the finishing materials, as this can completely ruin them. The installation of a plastic plinth on glue is carried out after the mixture is distributed over the back surface of the products, then the element must be leaned against the surface and pressed. Some types of adhesives provide for the need to hold the fillet near the surface for several minutes, if this option is not suitable for you, then you should choose a composition that provides instant bonding.
Using self-tapping screws
This fastening technology is inferior in decorative effect, but increases reliability. You will have to perform the following algorithm. Holes are drilled through the plinth, the distance between which can vary from 40 to 50 cm. In the holes, you need to make recesses in the form of a cone using a drill. With this approach, you can discreetly drown the caps of the fasteners. At the next stage, you can install the plinth, starting work from the corner. The elements should be firmly pressed against the wall, and through the holes you can make marks using a pencil. In the marked places, the master drills holes and installs dowels, then you can attach a piece of plinth to the wall surface and install fasteners.

Installation of a floor plastic plinth should not be accompanied by too tight installation of fasteners, the elements should not be deformed and pressed through. The algorithm described above should be repeated until the perimeter of the room can be pasted over with fillets. Self-tapping screws can be masked with plugs that match the shade of the baseboard. In order to ensure their tighter fastening, it is recommended to glue them.
Use special fasteners
If you are faced with the need to install a floor plinth, then as an alternative, you can use special fasteners. This technology has many advantages, but does not exclude the disadvantages. The advantages include easy dismantling if necessary, as well as simple re-assembly, in which there will be no traces of fasteners on the front surface of the fillets. But the downside is the increased requirements for evenness of the floor and walls, this significantly narrows the area of use of fasteners, which is especially true for the secondary housing market. Among other things, re-assembly, although possible, is not always easy to implement, sincethe fastening system weakens, and it becomes very difficult to achieve the initial fit. If the installation of plastic skirting boards with your own hands will be carried out by you using special fasteners, then at the first stage it is necessary to mark the attachment points, and then drill holes, the depth of which should not be more than three centimeters.
Work methodology
Next, plastic dowels are installed, screws are screwed in, as well as holding elements. Distances between adjacent fasteners must be maintained in the range from 30 to 50 cm. It is always necessary to start work from the corner. However, in this case, it is worth remembering that the installation of the first fastener from the corner must be removed by 10 cm or less.
Installing the ceiling plinth
Installation of plastic skirting boards into the ceiling is usually carried out after the installation of plastic panels that are attached to the frame. Installation of a plastic ceiling plinth can be carried out on stapler brackets or wood screws. When the frame is made from CD profiles fordrywall, you can fix the plinth to metal elements using metal screws. When it becomes necessary to go around the outer and inner corners, you should use connecting elements that match the color of the fillets. This opportunity will be a good solution when the length of the plinth was not enough. When installing the connectors, it is best to use glue or silicone, as the insert can pop out on impact if it is accidentally caught by something, this is especially true for outer corners.

Installing the plastic skirting board can be pushed over the edges of the trim panels. After the installation is completed, the joints are coated with a sealant of the appropriate color. Fillets can be hemmed from below to the UD profile that encircles the room. In this case, glue is used, as well as self-tapping screws with a press washer. At the points of mechanical fastening, the fillets are drilled when the possibility of cracks in the plastic is excluded, which, moreover, can be deformed. Installation of a plastic skirting board (its price is 130 rubles per linear meter) can also be installed in small rooms, while you can refuse the crate using screws. But in the case of corners, you can refuse to use special corners by using the same plinth that is cut in the miter box. The resulting cracks can be masked with sealant.
Installation of skirting board withcable channel
Installation of plastic baseboards with a cable channel, in principle, is carried out according to the above technologies. When calculating the material, one should not forget about the need to subtract doorways and add a few percent to the length for trimming. It is important to consider the presence of external and internal corners, connectors and plugs. Most often, a plastic floor plinth is installed in such a way that the fastener is in the wall and not in the floor. When installing, you can use liquid nails, dowel plugs or self-tapping screws. If the wall is made of drywall, then it is best to use self-tapping screws with corks or glue. In the latter case, you should be careful, because if there is a gap between the wall and the plinth, it will be very difficult to remove it.
If there is concrete or brick at the base of the wall, dowel plugs will be the best option for fastening. Holes for them are drilled at a distance of 30 cm from each other. It will be more convenient to use a hammer drill with an impact function to save time. Installation of a plastic plinth should start from the corner, however, solid profiles should be installed in the most visible part of the room. After the skirting board is pressed to the surface, you should make sure that there is no gap between the floor and the fillet. Holes will need to be made through the plastic plinth in the next step, and the dust generated must be removed with a vacuum cleaner. The next step is to install the plastic plugs into which the screws are screwed.
