When building new premises, as well as overhauling old ones, it is necessary to provide for the installation of fire safety systems. Modern systems using sprinklers are considered the most effective.
Destination
Sprinkler - a sprinkler, which is an irrigation head mounted in a water pipe system. Such an installation is called a sprinkler and is most often used in fire extinguishing equipment in various rooms. Air or water is constantly under pressure in the pipe network. The water sprinkler sprinkler has an opening that is sealed using a heat lock or a heat-sensitive bulb. They operate at certain temperatures ranging from 57°C to 343°C.
Operation principle
When the temperature in the room rises and reaches the value necessary for the sprinkler to operate, the lock is unsoldered, or the flask bursts, andirrigation of the protected area begins. The response time of a low-temperature sprinkler is no more than 300 seconds, and a high-temperature one is 600 seconds. Usually, splashing in case of fire begins 2-3 minutes after the room temperature rises. According to experts, a water sprinkler has a serious drawback: such a response time is a rather high inertia for fire extinguishing.
Key features and types
The water sprinkler in its design has a body, socket and screw made of heat-resistant materials. Explosive heat-sensitive devices can be different - a flask or a lock. The most important technical characteristics of sprinklers include irrigation intensity, flow rate, as well as irrigation area. The sprinkler body is usually brass, but can also be polymer-plated in white chrome or nickel-plated.
Depending on the location for vertical installation, the following sprinklers are distinguished: a sprinkler with a water outlet down and a sprinkler with a water outlet up. There are models that, under various operating conditions, can be installed both with the socket down and up.
In addition, there are sprinklers for which horizontal installation is also possible. Such a sprinkler is called "universal water sprinkler sprinkler". With any installation option, water is sprayed along a spherical path, with half of the flow sprayed down, the other part is reflected upwards from the outlet. One suchthe sprinkler allows you to put out fires of varying degrees of strength in an area of 12 square meters and prevent damage to property.
There are models for more effective protection of objects using foam. Moreover, water or foam is supplied only to hazardous areas with elevated temperatures, and water consumption is significantly reduced.
Installation
Any work that involves the installation and operation of sprinklers should only be carried out by specialists. Personnel must be authorized to work with pressure pipelines and comply with all requirements of GOST.
In water-filled installations, sprinklers are mounted vertically and can be positioned either up or down. In air systems - only with rosettes on top, so that if the accumulated condensate freezes, the flask will not be damaged.
Installation of sprinklers produced at the end of all installation work on the pipeline. Sprinklers must be tightened with a special wrench with medium force so as not to deform the threaded connection and the sprinkler outlet.
The use of a sealing material is mandatory to ensure the tightness of the threaded connection. When doing this, make sure that the sealant does not get into the sprayer hole. In places where there is a high probability of mechanical damage to sprinklers, they should be covered with rigid wire gratings.
Maintenance
To installthe fire extinguisher was in working condition all the time, it should be regularly inspected.
Each water sprinkler should be inspected for corrosion and any damage. Care must be taken to ensure that irrigation is not obstructed and that the sprinkler cover is not damaged.
Sprinklers should be kept available so that, if necessary, a damaged or leaking water sprinkler can be promptly replaced with a new one. Sprinklers that have been used cannot be repaired or reused and must be replaced.
Before replacement, the fire extinguishing system is turned off, the pressure in the installation is completely depressurized, the water is drained, and the old sprinkler is dismantled.
Before you install a new water sprinkler, you should make sure that it is fully compatible with this fire extinguishing system, has the required design, temperature and response time. After everything has been done, the system is again set to standby mode. The service life of the sprinkler is 10 years from the date of issue.
Water sprinkler significantly increases the efficiency of fire extinguishing systems, allows you to start extinguishing a fire in a timely manner and at the same time significantly saves water consumption.
