Remember: the vast majority of garden pests feed on leaf sap. Therefore, they all tend to the crown - and beetles, and caterpillars, and ants, carefully transferring aphids to "pastures". And the widest road leads to the crown of the tree - its trunk. Is it possible to put an insurmountable barrier for harmful insects on it?

You can. This barrier is called trapping belts for trees. Their task is to physically prevent pests from reaching the foliage of garden plantings, including their capture and destruction.

Each trap belt for trees is structurally very simple and does not require special frills in manufacturing. Most often it is made in the form of a funnel wrapped around the trunk and directed with its bell from top to bottom, towards the ground. Practice showsthat it is the funnel that most effectively "catches" harmful insects traveling up the trunk. So, the design, in principle, is clear. But the question is: if you make a trapping belt for trees, then from what material?

Easier and faster to make such obstacles out of paper or cardboard. But it immediately becomes clear: such hunting belts - until the first rain. Although, if it is possible to quickly remove them before bad weather, this tool is the best of the disposable ones. Burlap or glass wool are much better suited for making hunting belts. And here's why.

To enhance the "collective" ability of the trapping belt, it is desirable to impregnate its inside with either an effective insecticide or a sticky substance. Then all the harmful evil spirits trying to overcome the obstacle will definitely not pass - they will either die or stick firmly inside. In addition, fiberglass itself is incredibly difficult to overcome, even without impregnation. A more "long-lasting" version of the trapping belt, thanks to which the protection of trees is provided, is a "skirt" made of rubber. It is easy to wrap a pre-prepared pattern around the trunk, tightly tying it to it or gluing it with carpentry glue. To enhance the effect, you can also wrap the edges of the "skirt", and pour a little sticky substance or sunflower oil into the resulting groove. Insects caught in the groove will not get out.

Each tree trap belt needsattach to the trunk so that there are no gaps between it and the bark. If you still can't avoid them, don't worry: ordinary plasticine will come in handy for putty.

One more tip: if it is possible to dye the trapping belts, paint them green. This will immediately make them attractive to pests and of no interest to beneficial insects such as honey plants. Check every tree trap belt regularly; if necessary, soak it again with insecticide. As soon as a sufficient number of insects accumulate inside the trapping belt, carefully untie it from the trunk, take it outside the garden plot and be sure to burn it. Only this method will mean the irrevocable destruction of garden pests.
