Hydrangea amazes with its beauty and splendor of flowering. For many gardeners, it is a dream, because the shrub is completely strewn with delicate inflorescences. Hydrangea flowers are mainly of two shades - white and pink. The plant belongs to the Hydrangea family, which has about 100 species.
Among the variety of species you can find upright and curly, evergreen, dwarf, frost-resistant. In Russia, tree-like and paniculate hydrangeas are grown. Hydrangea flowers are valued for their decorative effect, so many gardeners want to get seedlings of this beauty to decorate suburban areas. Designers often include these plants in landscape design compositions. Depending on the variety, the shrub can grow up to 2 m in height. A spectacle of extraordinary beauty is a hydrangea in autumn. At this time, hydrangea flowers and seed pods, as well as foliage of different colors, can be observed on one plant. But this amazing beauty is found not only in garden plots. As a home flower, hydrangea is also grown, but you need to be aware of the maincare rules.
You can grow it from a cutting, branch or part of a bush. It is best to do this in spring or autumn. In regions with a cool climate, planting should be postponed until spring. In advance, you need to prepare a hole 505050 cm. Any drainage should be placed on the bottom: expanded clay, broken brick, small river stone with sand. When planting a bush, the root neck should not go underground. The soil is slightly compacted and watered abundantly, the soil around the plant is additionally mulched with peat (this will prevent the rapid evaporation of moisture). In the summer, fertilizing is necessary. Hydrangea flowers take a lot of energy from an adult plant, therefore, along with organic matter, minerals must be added. In spring and early summer, potassium sulfate or urea is used, and in autumn - superphosphate. It is worth noting that overwatering is just as harmful as drought.
Planting material is harvested from the second half of summer. The best time is July, and later in warmer areas. For cuttings, green shoots are selected that have not yet had time to be covered with a thick bark. They are selected from the apical stems, leaving 2-3 buds per stalk. The lower leaves need to be cut off, and the upper ones should be left, cutting off only half. For faster rooting, the lower part of the cut can be treated with a growth accelerator and planted in a light sandy substrate.
It is better to close the film from above. It is worth remembering about regular watering. After about 3 weeks, the shoots should take root, and next year from these cuttingsflowers will grow. Hydrangea garden (photo above) loves lit places, but does not tolerate direct exposure to rays. The best place is a moving shadow. Plants can adapt to the shade, but flowering will be weak and not so long. The plant hibernates with a temperature of 3 to 8 degrees below zero, but during more severe winters, the root system suffers. Standard varieties are formed for a long time - within 4-5 years. They are resistant to diseases and rarely suffer from pests and parasites.
