Homemade candles and candlesticks are not only pleasing to the eye, but also add comfort and warmth to the interior of the room. It is not at all difficult to make them, and the result of the work can be both left with oneself and presented to someone close. We offer you some simple workshops on how to make candlesticks from jars with your own hands.
How to prepare candle wax?
You can put a ready-made candle in a candlestick-jar, or you can pour wax into it. Everyone decides for himself what type he needs.
To pour wax into a glass container, it must first be prepared. To do this, take a piece of material and cut it into small cubes. Place the crushed wax in a saucepan. Turn on the stove and put a saucepan of water on the burner, and place a container of wax on top. Make a water bath. Stir the wax with a wooden stick. Until it melts completely.
Then turn off the stove and, without removing the wax pan from it, add the necessary additives: aromatic oils, dyes, and so on. Allmix thoroughly with a wooden stick.
Wax is ready. Be aware that it can dry out very quickly. Therefore, immediately make a candle out of it.
The easiest way to make a candlestick out of a jar

- Prepare the wax: melt it and mix it with additives.
- Take a jar and fasten the wick inside it. To do this, drop wax on one end of the cord or use a special tablet clip and lower it to the bottom of the container using a tube (see picture above).
- Secure the other end of the wick so it doesn't sink in. To do this, wind it on a wooden skewer or make a special clip (see the picture above).
- Slowly, so that the wick does not move or fall, pour the liquid wax into the glass container.
- When the wax on top hardens, you can remove the wick mount.
- If a recess has formed in the candle, pour the rest of the wax into it.
If you want a striped candle, pour wax, alternating colors and letting each row dry.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a New Year's candlestick from a jar:
- Measure the circumference of the jar you prepared.
- Draw a line on a sheet of paper, the length of which is equal to the diameter of the jar.
- Mark the highest point of the future drawing from the line, because it cannot be greater than the heightbanks.
- Draw a line-to-point silhouette. In our example, these are houses and Christmas trees.
- Cut out the outline with scissors or a utility knife.
- Grip an extra centimeter from the side so that you can glue the ends together.
- Cover a third of the can with artificial snow.
- Apply a cut-out silhouette around the jar and glue its ends together.
- Place a pill candle inside the jar.
The candlestick is ready!
Snowman Candlestick
Master class on how to decorate a candlestick under a snowman:
- Take a white woolen thread and tightly wrap it around the entire jar, leaving a neck.
- Spread it with glue and sprinkle sparkles (shimmer) on top.
- Extra shimmer can be brushed off with a fluffy brush.
- Tie a wide ribbon at the joint of the sequin and thread.
- Using a glue gun, glue two buttons of the same size and color vertically onto the bottom of the jar.
- Pour a small layer of s alt into the jar itself.
- Place a pill candle inside.

Summer Candlestick
You can save the memory of the holidays on the coast in a rather original way. For example, make candlesticks from jars with your own hands using shells that you have collected yourself.
Master class:
- Coat the jar with blue or cyan acrylic paint. Make the strokes loose so that the light from the candle easily seeps through.
- Lubricate the lower part of the wall of the jar with glue and sprinkle with sand. When the glue is dry, brush off any excess sand with a brush.
- Tie the top of the jar with twine.
- Glue with a glue gun, stick the shells on the twine and the jar itself.
It remains to put a pill-candle, and the candlestick is ready!
Decoupage when making a candlestick
Instructions on how to make a candlestick from a jar using decoupage technique:
- Prepare the picture you want to put on the jar. It can be a printout, a magazine clipping, a napkin, and so on. In our example, this is a piece of the world map.
- Coat the jar with a thick layer of glue.
- Stick the picture.
- Cover it with glue.
- Wait until the jar is completely dry.

Candlestick with window
Thanks to the technique suggested below, you can make many candlesticks that will be different and at the same time made in the same style.
Master class on making a candlestick with a window:
- Take a glass jar, stick a piece of masking tape on its wall. If the stripes are thin, then make several rows superimposed on each other.
- Cut out the silhouette from the pasted adhesive tape. In our example, this is a heart.
- Remove excess tape from the can, leaving only a silhouette on the wallfigurines.
- Cover the can with paint. It is most convenient to use a spray can. To do this, twist several newspapers into a tube and put a jar on them. Coat the entire surface of the glass container evenly with paint. Make another layer if needed. Instead of a spray can, you can use acrylic paint. But it takes longer to dry.
- When the paint is dry, pry something off the masking tape and peel it off.
- Decorate the neck of the jar with twine or ribbon.
- Place a pill candle inside.

Candlesticks from small glass jars
Many people think that the best candlesticks come from tall or wide jars. After all, they can accommodate a lot of decor and due to their size there is a large field for creativity. But in fact, you can make a very beautiful candlestick from a baby food can. Sometimes just a couple of strokes are enough and a wonderful decor is ready!
Here are a few examples of how you can make cute candle holders from small jars:
- Cut off a small piece of lace that can wrap around the jar in diameter, but it will be narrower than the sides of the container. Secure the edges of the lace with a glue gun. Tie a twine on top. The result is a shabby chic candlestick.
- Glue some parts of the jar with glue. You can draw adhesive strips, draw patterns, shapes, and the like. Sprinkle the jar with glitter (shimmer) or s alt (itscan be painted with crayons to give color). Let the glue dry, and then brush off any excess grains of sand.
- Cut out a piece of fabric or lace. Place the jar in the center of the patch and lift the edges of the material. Spread the fabric over the jar and tie a ribbon or twine around the neck of the jar. Trim excess material so it doesn't accidentally catch fire.
- Pour some cereals or coffee beans into a jar (the capacity is small, so the product consumption will be small). Make the layer height arbitrary. Place a tablet candle on the loose filler. Such a candlestick will look especially beautiful in the kitchen and will take on the function of decor.
- Draw a pattern or stencil on the sides of the jar with acrylic paint.
It is worth noting that in addition to tablet candles, ordinary candles can also be placed in glass candlesticks.
