Many owners of a country house or dacha believe that the design of the yard with their own hands is a difficult and almost impossible task. Of course, it is possible to turn to a specialist who will make a real masterpiece from your site for a considerable amount, only many people cannot afford this.
Landscape the yard: where to start?
Site design starts with a project. Once you have decided on the main elements that will be located there, it's time to take measurements and create a sketch on paper.
Then we make a drawing, placing the future decoration of the site there. Particularly complex landscape elements (a pond, a cascade, an alpine hill) should preferably be drawn on paper first, so that there is something to guide during the manufacturing process.
Landscape design of the courtyard: creating paths
You yourself can decide on the location of the tracks, which are the easiest to make instead of the already trodden paths. They vary in coverage and type.grounds. It is desirable to use natural materials such as sandstone, gravel, slate or pavers. They look very natural, while their cost is higher.
When laying paving stones or paving slabs, a sand and gravel cushion is first created. Initially, you need to create markup. Soil is being excavated throughout the territory of future paths. Along the edges, recesses are created for the borders. To set the borders and the tiles themselves, a special rubber hammer is used.
Landscape design of the yard: creating lawns
A house plot cannot be imagined without a well-groomed lawn, since this is its main attribute. Sod is especially suitable for this, after cutting it with a lawn mower it will look no worse than a coating that is planted with elite seeds. When planning to design a private courtyard with your own hands, it is worth remembering that the lawn does not need to be divided into flower beds, as this will complicate its cutting.
A separate issue is the planting of various evergreens. In many regions, cypresses and arborvitae do not take root, grow slowly and often get sick. It is better to choose plants that are adapted to your climatic conditions. Boxwood and undersized juniper have proven themselves well.
Landscape design of the yard: an alpine hill or a flower bed?
For a flower bed, the place must be determined in advance. It is better to draw its borders with a decorative low fence or lay out tiles, stone or brick.
The rock garden will be based on stones arranged in a free, chaotic manner. They are skillfully combined with bright alpine flowers. Be very responsible in the selection of plants, in addition, consider the location of the site when planning the design of the courtyard of a private house. Photos of such courtyards delight every person. When choosing plants, remember that some flowers are suitable for a well-lit space, but completely different ones for shady areas.
Distribute the flowers by size, then plant them at a distance of 30 cm so that they do not take moisture from each other. The hill is planted mainly from top to bottom, while heat-loving flowers are on top.
