Without technical water it is impossible to work in many areas. Up-to-date information on how this liquid is cooled.
Cooling liquids with drycoolers
Thermal and nuclear power plants, as well as industrial enterprises every day use a lot of technical water, which is used to cool various mechanisms and assemblies. The water heats up considerably. And since in the process of cooling it moves in a circle in a closed circuit, it becomes necessary to cool it as well. Cooling towers are used in large facilities such as power plants, where large volumes of water have to be cooled.
In small industrial plants, the volume of chilled water is much less. In this case, a dry cooler, also called a drycooler, acts as a heat exchanger in the refrigeration equipment.
The main function of this device is partial coolingliquids. A dry cooler does not make the water ice cold, it only lowers its temperature. For example, if the water entering the cooling tower has a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, then the temperature at the exit will be about 30 degrees.
Dry cooler
Drycooler is a fin-tube heat exchanger, which is equipped with fans to cool the coolant circulating in a closed circuit. Thus, the cooling of water in this device is carried out by the action of the air flow, which is forced by the "turntable".
The Dry Cooler is designed for outdoor installation and uses water with glycol as the heat transfer medium to protect the unit from freezing. From the drycooler, liquid is supplied to the refrigeration equipment system to cool mechanisms and assemblies. Then it returns back to the cooling tower, where the heat is removed to the atmosphere.
Typically, dry coolers are equipped with axial fans, the power of which is enough to create the desired force of the forced air flow. If it is necessary to increase the pressure, the drycooler is equipped with more powerful centrifugal fans.
The Fan Cooling Tower is not only used in industry, it has also been used in large stores / supermarkets, where it (together with chillers) is used in air conditioning systems. In such cases, compressor units are usually installed in special technical rooms with good sound insulation, and fan cooling towers are placedon the roof of a building or a site equipped for this purpose.
Dry cooler benefits
Using a drycooler has some advantages. The most important thing is that when it is used, there is no evaporation of the coolant, since it circulates in a closed loop. Therefore, the device is called so - a dry cooling tower.
The coolant in such a cooler is not contaminated and does not need additional cleaning after cooling. Adding glycol to the water prevents the entire circuit from defrosting.
The use of a dry cooler cannot lead to chemical pollution of the environment and does not increase the humidity of the air. This explains why the dry cooler is used in places where environmental conditions are given increased attention.
