In Soviet times, at the research institute of the All-Russian Research Institute (project "Electrofitter"), a clamp for wires of power lines was invented. It was important for scientists to develop a device that would have high strength, increased reliability and extended versatility. This project involved scientists from many industries, including the chemical one.
Invented by scientists
Since the 50s of the last century, this invention has been used to connect wires end-to-end and is actively used in electrical engineering. Such a clamp is also called an electrocontact, or wedge, it can be worked with without removing the insulation.
- Wedge clamp for wires. The scope of such compounds is quite small. It is limited by an overhead power line. This is because only two conductors of identical gauge can be connected with a wire wedge.
- Branch clampfor power line connection. The disadvantage of this device: using it, you need a special screw instead of a push mechanism.
- Clamp for wires of power lines is a wedge-shaped body in the form of a trough, in the cavity of which there is an insert and a pressure mechanism. Such a device provides only compression of the conductor. Scientists have succeeded in inventing suspension clips that are attached to intermediate supports.
For all connection options, such devices allow you to connect to already used conductors without requiring de-energizing the common line.
New Generation
Anchor clamp for wire. The body of the clamp is polyamide, quite strong and durable, additionally reinforced with fiberglass, has high wear resistance to mechanical stress, to unpredictable environmental influences. Reliable fastening of a wire is provided with two wedges from thermoplastic. This device consists of a flexible cable made of stainless steel. Anchor wedge clamp is used for wires in
fasteners of electrical wiring and ropes with a cross section of up to 92 mm2. The device is used to ensure good contact in harsh weather conditions and under high mechanical loads. Anchor clips have been designed and implemented to provide high strength wire termination, as well as ease of installation and repair at no additional cost.

A feature of thisconstruction is that it is made of UV-resistant thermoplastic and reinforced with a fiberglass structure. Advantages: it compares favorably with other devices in that it has a high ultimate load, which makes it possible to increase the length of the span of wires (up to 40 m). Such a distance between the supports is allowed to be carried out using a material with a section of 25 mm2. It is often possible to carry out installation work with anchor clamps of this modification with untwisted input wires.
