Pipes are used everywhere: both when laying a water supply system, and when laying telephone and power networks. These elements differ in the method of manufacture, the materials used, the shape, and so on, while their choice depends on many factors. Consider the use of such a type of building fixtures as a corrugated pipe, what they serve for and what is the difference between these parts.
Corrugated pipe
The corrugated pipe is a flexible part, the structure of which is pressed into folds. This determines the easy mobility and strength of this product. You can note the advantages of this device:
- the use of the pipe is possible in various household and industrial areas due to improved characteristics and high resistance to bending, fracture and other types of deformation;
- Easy installation as the flexibility of the part allows for laying systems of various designs with complex shapes, turns and the like;
- excludes the use of welding, as well as variousconnecting fasteners such as couplings, fittings and others, which greatly reduces the cost of work.
- Able to mount in a variety of environments, with easy replacement of cables and wires.
Types and applications of corrugated pipes
The corrugated pipe is made from different raw materials, as a result of which it is possible to carry out the following classification of this element:
- Polymeric corrugated pipes, such as plastic PVC and halogen-free PE, are used as additional fire protection and moisture insulation for wires or cables when laying communication networks. For sewer and storm systems, high-class polyethylene products (PE80 and PE100) are used.
- Stainless steel corrugated pipe can serve as a straight line replacement in heating and plumbing systems. It is also used as a ventilation device in the air outlet, in stove and fireplace structures. It is recommended to install these types of elements in closed places, as they cannot withstand mechanical stress.
How to choose?
Flexible corrugated pipe is available in different diameters, which makes it possible to use it in various cases. When choosing this element, it is useful to consider the following points:
- Pipe d16 is used when leading wires to lighting fixtures, and tosockets and switches need to select a part of at least d20.
- When connecting a distribution box to a similar device located in another building or a central switchboard, d25 or larger fixtures must be used. It is also recommended to lay a backup pipe.
- When performing work on connecting electrical panels, corrugated pipes d32 or more must be used.
- For laying electrical wires between floors, it is better to use parts d40, d50, d63.
- For telephone and signaling networks, corrugated parts d16 are the best option.
- It is recommended to use d25 elements in coax systems.
Corrugated pipe has many advantages, while the use of this element allows you to create a quality device. Production from various materials expands the range of applications for this type of fixture, and the choice largely depends on the purpose of this product.
