By planting everything you need on your plot, everyone wants to grow a good harvest. In this case, the main concern will be regular proper watering of the plantings. The problem usually lies in the fact that there is no way to constantly come to your favorite dacha and water it. However, it is possible to find a solution to this problem.
What you need to know about watering?
Experienced gardeners recommend not watering plants with cold water from a water pipe or artesian well. This is very important for good crop growth. Therefore, you will definitely need barrels or other containers. There are quite rational ways to organize irrigation. The sprayer is mainly used for watering the garden. This tool is quite possible to make yourself.
Irrigation
Water is supplied to the plants constantly, in small portions.
Essence of irrigation:
- To supply water in the garden (in the garden, on the lawn, in the flower garden), a pipeline is placed.
- Layers are made for each bed. Such a construction is calleddistribution line.
- Special sprayers are installed next to the plants. Water is supplied through the system in certain portions or continuously for several hours.
Spray irrigation system has clear advantages:
- Such a do-it-yourself system would be inexpensive. You can use the material that we usually just throw away (for example, plastic bottles).
- Water moisturizes the leaves and stems of plants, which has a positive effect on their condition.
- The air above the soil is moistened, which is very important in the heat.
- Water comes in small batches all the time. Therefore, regardless of the duration of your absence on the site, the earth will be moistened.
You can make several types of do-it-yourself sprayer for watering the garden:
- From a plastic bottle.
- From plastic hoses.
- A solid system with industrial elements.
Water with plastic bottles
One of the simplest is a spray bottle for watering a garden from a plastic bottle. The most suitable bottle size is 2-2.5 liters. The bottle should be washed well. Then make holes on its surface from one side (with a heated knitting needle or a nail).
Ordinary plastic handles can also be used. Measure the diameter of the handle in the thinnest part and drill slightly smaller holes in the bottle. It will be optimal to make 5 holes in three rows. Then cut the handles to a length of 5 cm and insert tightly into the holes.
To connect the hose withthe bottle uses an adapter. On the cover, drill a hole according to the diameter of the adapter. Using silicone glue, fix the adapter in the lid. Put the bottle next to the plants that need watering. Thus, for a garden of such structures, several will be required.
Hose system
You will need to purchase the necessary components:
- Hoses for creating highways along the entire length of the beds.
- Special nozzles.
- Shutoff and connecting fittings: plugs, taps, tees.
- Water tank.
- Stand for water tank.
Setting up the system:
- Distribute the hoses along the beds and rows with plants. At the end of each we put a cap.
- Using tees, we connect the hoses to the pipeline of the supply line, which is connected to the water tank.
- The water tank itself must be installed at a height of at least 2 meters above the soil level (to create the necessary pressure). We use dark colored hoses. This will protect against algae clogging the droppers.
- Along the entire length of pipes and hoses, we outline places for holes that can be made with a hot awl or self-tapping screw. We insert sprayers into these holes.

Substantial irrigation system

Plant requirements must be taken into account when planning automatic irrigation. Sprinkling is suitable for some, while moistening only the roots is suitable for others.
Required for the system:
- Special sprayers (micro-sprinklers). It is more convenient to use adjustable heads, there are also more complex elements - with foggers (convenient for greenhouses).
- Pipe that distributes water to the beds. One end of the pipe is connected to the water supply line. A plug is put on the other end.
- Start connectors with clamp nut for pipe connection, protection against water leaks.
- Fittings, valves, pressure compensators, tees, etc.
- To ensure long-term operation of the system, a high-quality filter can be installed at the outlet of the tank.
Before you assemble a sprayer for watering the garden with your own hands, it is recommended to draw a diagram of the location of the elements of the system on the site, accurately calculate the time of watering and the dosage of water. This will facilitate installation work.
Watering the lawn
A very good option is the use of polypropylene pipes with end devices for spraying (spraying) water. The lawn sprayer can be made like this.
During the treatment of the area under the lawn, we install the pipe structure so that the water sprinklers cover its entire area. The spray diameter depends on the pressure of the water supply and onsprinkler designs. Then, at a depth of 40-50 cm, we bury the prepared system. Spray tips are brought to the surface and tied with polyethylene in order to prevent soil from entering the pipes.
If it is not possible to dig in the lawn, then portable water sprinklers will help to irrigate the lawn. Another option is to use a Crazy Flower sprayer.
