It seems that it is difficult and even almost impossible to install eyelets with your own hands. Especially if it's a woman doing it. Indeed, when installing eyelets, some kind of hammers, some punches, and some other tools are often used. How can a woman manage this household without damaging her manicure?

But nothing is impossible for a person with intelligence and the right hands! Even if the first is safely hidden under a blond hairdo, and the second is decorated with a complex manicure.

Hammers and punches are not always needed!

Who is in the subject, he might think: "How can it be without a hammer? How to install eyelets without a punch?" But you can safely do without them. Especially if you need to hang curtains with eyelets. The thing is that when hanging the curtains, these elegant rings play the role of loops for stringing the canvas on the cornice. And they are usually quite large. On the other hand, curtain fabric or fabric for curtains is usually very or moderately thin, so they are not pierced with a special punch, like jeans or leather, for which, in fact, they wereconsidered elements are invented. They can be easily cut with scissors. Therefore, if you already have eyelets, installing them will take a little time.

So, sew a curtain on the grommets

For tailoring you will need:

  1. Actual fabric for curtains. Traditionally, the required amount of canvas is calculated by the formula: the working length of the cornice, multiplied by 2.5. The height, of course, is determined by the height from the floor to the cornice plus 10-20 cm (depending on the diameter of the rings) for the hem at the top and 5-10 cm at the bottom.
  2. Non-woven tape with a length equal to the width of the purchased fabric and a width equal to the height of the top hem.
  3. Eyelets. Their diameter should be slightly larger than the diameter of the cornice (the cornice, of course, is only round). The number of eyelets is only an even, more accurate number is determined exclusively experimentally: the more there are, the smaller the crease on the curtain will be and, accordingly, vice versa.
  4. Any tailoring tool, including scissors.

Do-it-yourself eyelets are easy

First you need to sew your curtain: cut off the required amount of material, fold it on top, laying interlining, if necessary, process the edges that will be vertical. Be sure to iron with the hottest iron for this fabric. Next, you need to carefully calculate the location of each ringlet with the help of the tailor's measuring instruments so that the eyelets are made neatly with your own hands.

Can be donenext:

  • Draw a horizontal line with chalk at a distance of 3-4 cm from the top edge (these centimeters are a must). At the end of the work, the remaining edge forms a beautiful "comb".
  • Mark the future location of the eyelets on the drawn line.
  • Spread the rings under the marks and circle them inside.
  • Remove them and carefully cut round holes with scissors.
  • The lower part of the eyelet is placed under each of them, the upper part is superimposed on top and snaps into place.

That's it - you installed the eyelets yourself. It remains only to hang ready-made curtains and carefully straighten beautiful folds on them.
