Violet, or saintpaulia, as it is also called, today is the favorite of many home flower growers. Collectors seek to grow a flower on their windowsill. There are many varieties of this plant. Our article will focus on one of them - violet Princess Cherry.
Description
Violet Princess Cherry is a bright beautiful variety. The author of the variety is S. Repkina.
Violet flowers are large, terry, lush, rounded, fuchs color. On the edges of the petals - white edging. Flowering is very bright, voluminous, multi-layered. Peduncles are strong, a bouquet in the form of a hat.
The foliage is dark green in color, the rosette is even and neat.
Growing Nuances
Some flower growers characterize the violet as an unpretentious plant, others cannot cope with the care of a capricious beauty. However, in order to enjoy beautiful flowering, a number of conditions should be observed during the growing process.
The highlight is getting sunnylight, or rather, the location of violets relative to it. Violet Princess Cherry (and all other varieties) loves plenty of light, but is afraid of direct sunlight.
Thus, the northeast and northwest windows are the most suitable places for growing violets.
In nature, violets choose places where shrubs can protect them from the bright sun, so you need to try to provide such conditions indoors. Often growers use glass shelving and fluorescent lamps, in which case the violets get the necessary light and look beautiful.
Place to land
When choosing containers for planting flowers, it should be noted that specimens planted in pots of the same size, having a diameter and height of 10 cm, look spectacular. This size is considered optimal. The violet pot can be made from any material, it doesn't matter. Both ceramics and plastic will do.
Smaller pot size will not allow the plant to thrive. However, there are instances that grow to large sizes, and then they need a larger container.
Soil selection
Soil for violets can be purchased at the store, but if you have a strong desire, then making the soil for them yourself is not such a difficult task.
For this, drainage is placed in the pot, which occupies one third of the capacity. This is coal or expanded clay. Then the soil is poured, consisting of turf, humus, sand and sphagnum moss. You can also take soil from the forest. The most important thing -it should provide good air exchange, that is, be loose.
Reproduction
To propagate the violet Princess Cherry, you can use leaves, a ready-made rosette or peduncle. The stalk is placed in water for a couple of months, then, when shoots appear, they are planted in the soil. You can plant the cutting directly into the ground, this method is even more preferable, the root system of such specimens will be stronger.
Young violets are placed in pots with a diameter of 5-6 cm. After 3-4 months, you can plant in a larger container.
Secrets of flower growers
