With the advent of warm spring days, summer residents try to spend as much time as possible on their plots. But after exhausting physical work, it would not hurt to relax. Unfortunately, not everyone has a fully landscaped house in addition to the garden. Therefore, many people would like to use a hammock as a place to relax (photo 1). But then you have to decide how and where to hang it, choosing a suitable place. But there is another solution to this problem - you can make a stand for a hammock with your own hands and install it where it is most convenient.
History in Brief
It turns out that the historical homeland of the hammock is America, and the direct inventors of the unusual bed are its indigenous people - the Indians. The reason for hanging places for rest and sleep was not at all the desire to soak up the light breath of a fresh breeze, but the desire to protect themselves from snake bites and crawlingon the land of insects. In addition, the climate completely allowed not to think about significant temperature fluctuations within a day. Special merit also belongs to the sailors who brought this invention to Europe. But in those days, only trees and other suitable vertical places were used as support and fasteners. More recently, people have realized that it is very convenient to have a hammock stand. Then the "bed" can be used both outdoors and indoors. Consider what kind of coasters are and what is the principle of their manufacture. And on the example of one of the models, we will analyze the phased workflow.
How to choose a hammock stand? Description of the most common species
All designs are classified primarily by external configuration:
- suspended;
- having a monolithic frame;
- mounted on a prefabricated stand.
The latter are the most convenient to use, as they take up a minimum of space and, if necessary, can be quickly assembled and installed. Most coasters are made from metal or wood blocks. They differ in design and form. Among non-separable frames, the most stable are those curved in the form of an arc (photo 2). Such models, in addition to practicality, also have a very attractive appearance. Stands for "sitting" hammocks are somewhat different in design.
How to make a hammock stand (photo 3)? Main stages of work
It's quite easy to make a design for fixing a mesh bed at home. Consider in general terms what a simple hammock stand should look like. The dimensions given in this example are standard and can be changed depending on the structural features of the “lying” zone - the length, depth, width of the canvas. All readings in the table are in centimeters.
Part name | Width | Length | Thickness | Number of parts |
Horizontal bottom base | 5-10 | 72 | 3 | 2 |
Transverse lower bases | 5-10 | 40 | 2 | 2 |
Diagonal side rails | 5-10 | 48 | 3 | 2 |
Slanted fasteners connecting the long base to the side pieces | 5 |
On the top line -29 On the bottom line - 17 |
3 | 2 |
Features of the technology for connecting some parts
When you make a stand for a hammock with your own hands, you should pay special attention to the reliability of the connection of all parts. With poor quality work, there is a danger at any time, especially whenrocking, violate the integrity of the structure, which can lead to injury from a fall of a person in a mesh hanging bed. Therefore, pay attention (on the example of photo 4) that when the diagonal rails are lengthened and, accordingly, the entire structure is increased, the load on the fasteners increases significantly. For greater reliability, use oblique rails, which are additionally attached from above, connecting the base of the stand and the side part. It is also possible to make two or three instead of one screw through hole, distributing them in several places of the lower support.
Choosing Baby Appliances
When purchasing a children's hammock stand or making it yourself, you need to consider the presence of several mandatory product properties:
- Structural stability. Double bases are considered the most reliable. So, for example, the above-described product can be made somewhat different - to supplement the diagonal guides with another part (which will make the "sides" in the form of a triangle), and to add a parallel one to the supporting horizontal part.
- Assembly reliability. It is most advisable to opt for holistic designs, that is, assembled only once after purchase, and not permanently.
- The practicality of the product. Many models, especially for the smallest, may additionally have a number of devices - a protective mosquito net, a sun awning, a sway limiter, etc. Of course, such coasters will have a higherprice. Therefore, when purchasing a product, specify the general functionality.
As you can see, such a simple product as a hammock can become not only a useful item, but also a fairly modern design feature that can decorate any interior.
