Do not forget that the issue of storing tools, materials and equipment is often very acute. Everything that can be useful in repairs should always be at hand. And the best way out of this situation is to make a convenient rack.

What is a rack

Before you make a tool rack with your own hands, you need to decide what it is? In fact, these are several shelves on which you can store any items. At the same time, they have the most free and convenient access. Shelving can be:

  1. Mounted.
  2. Floor.

You can alsodivide into angular and straight structures. They also differ in size - it all depends on what parameters the room has.

Materials for making

Both metal and wood are used for making. The processing of the finished product is minimal, it is enough to apply a layer of paint so that the material is not damaged during operation. Aesthetic appearance is not the main thing in such a piece of garage interior. Of course, you can get confused and make beautiful and aesthetic shelves from wood and drywall sheets, but is the game worth the candle? You end up with an expensive, non-mobile system that is completely useless in a garage.

What you need to make

  1. Roulette.
  2. Pencil.
  3. Level.
  4. Screwdriver, screwdriver.
  5. Wood screws.

As for the boards, you will need to prepare the following blanks:

  1. Strips for ends and facade bases of shelves made of pine. In total, you will need six such strips 243.8 cm long.
  2. Strips for making legs - three pieces. The length of these slats should be the same as the height of the topmost shelf.
  3. Strips for the manufacture of supports in the amount of 9 pieces. The length of each plank should be 30.5 cm.

And now let's move on to making the structure. You need to perform the following manipulations:

  1. First, make markings on the wall at the level of the shelves. Check if the layout is horizontal using a level.
  2. Fix with long screws to the wall of the plank, the length of which is 243.8 cm. They should be fixed at the level at whichshelves will be installed later. The height of the shelves is determined independently, it all depends on what you are going to store.
  3. You have the three longest planks left, they need to be aligned as accurately as possible with those that are already fixed on the wall. Using two screws or nails each, you need to put on the straps to simply fix the position.
  4. Take those planks that will subsequently serve as legs - put one in the middle and two at the edges. They need to be connected only with the upper strips with self-tapping screws. Do not use more than 2-3 pieces in one connection. If you plan to store heavy items, then you need to make the distance between the supports at least 70 cm.
  5. Remove additional fasteners for fixing from the slats. As a result, the front part should turn out to be almost perfect.
  6. Now you need to prepare pocket holes on nine slats using a special tool.
  7. Attach planks with pocket holes at right angles to planks horizontally.
  8. Install the front part of the rack and fasten it with long screws. They must be screwed securely into pocket holes and cross bars.
  9. Now securely fasten the cut pieces of plywood to the frame.

Finishing is not necessary, but if desired, apply several coats of paint and varnish. This will not only improve the appearance, but also significantly increase the life of the product.
