Repair and decoration of apartments is a difficult and hard job. In many ways, it is aggravated by the need to whitewash the ceiling. Plaster does not lend itself to whitewashing too easily, and therefore it would be useful to discuss some of the nuances of such work.
Despite the fact that in recent years the recognized leaders of the "ceiling" market are stretch and suspended ceilings, in many apartments to this day you can see carelessly whitewashed concrete floors. Unfortunately, time does not spare anyone or anything, and therefore most of them are in a very deplorable state. In particular, the most difficult thing is plaster, which often falls off in pieces due to the impact of aggressive environmental factors.
Such a ceiling not only looks disgusting, but is simply dangerous, since a layer of plaster that has fallen on your head will certainly not add he alth. Therefore, plastering the ceiling, the prices of which can be quite high, is an absolutely necessary event. It is even more necessary to periodically update it, since in this case the ceiling covering can last much longer.
The ceiling can be whitewashed with lime or usedconstruction chalk, which is carefully ground. There is a more common way to whitewash the ceiling. For this, in all its qualities, water-based paint is very suitable. It should be of high quality and fresh, and not lying around from the last time! Unfortunately, domestic repair and decoration of apartments often differ in this. Of course, it is completely unacceptable to use the old mortar in the case when you have applied decorative plaster for the ceiling, which is very easy to spoil with such methods.
In the case of chalky whitewash, it is necessary to prepare a solution in advance. To do this, dissolve 30 grams of wood glue in 5 liters of warm water and add 3 kilograms of chalk. But before that, it must be well sieved. The old whitewash is carefully washed off the ceiling. The last point deserves a special mention. It happens that the old plaster resembles stone in its density, and therefore it becomes difficult to wash it off. In this case, you must use hot water or a steam generator to help you tidy up the ceiling. The plaster in this case is quickly soaked, and it is no longer difficult to separate it from concrete.
Further, using putty and a spatula, you should try to repair all cracks and defects in the coating. The joints are completely filled with putty, for this it is applied alternately in the transverse and longitudinal directions. At the next stage, such a ceiling is to be covered with liquid soil.
He needstake two hundred grams of laundry soap and dissolve it in two liters of hot water with the addition of one hundred grams of drying oil and 3 kilograms of slaked lime. Everything is thoroughly mixed, the resulting mixture is applied to the ceiling. The plaster must be applied as evenly as possible. The main difficulty in plastering the ceiling is to obtain a mixture of sufficient consistency: it should not flow freely from the ceiling, but it also cannot resemble dough in appearance.
Then, with a hand roller or using a special sprayer, the primer is carefully applied to the prepared ceiling surface to give it a matte finish. You should wait at least 2-3 days for sufficient drying of the whitewash, and then finish the ceiling with a finishing layer. Plaster after such repairs should last a long time.
