Asbestos cement is considered a valuable building material, which is obtained artificially. Technological properties of asbestos-cement pipes favorably distinguish them from competitive products. In their manufacture, such basic components as asbestos and cement are used.
The production of these products includes the mandatory use of Portland cement, which does not contain additives - M400 and M500. The manufacturing process involves mixing fibers with cement. The first stage is the formation of the workpiece. Then the asbestos-cement pipe is placed on the conveyor. After hardening, it is lowered into the pool, and at the final stage it is turned. Asbestos-cement pipe is a versatile product that has a number of valuable properties.
Material Value:
- rot and corrosion resistant;
- low thermal conductivity;
- high strength;
- no tendency to fouling;
- durability;
- reliability;
- low cost;
- resistance to aggressive waters.
Fragility can be distinguished among the shortcomings.
Asbestos-cement pipe is of three types:
- gas pipeline;
- tap;
- sewer.
Pressure and non-pressure pipes are manufactured at the factory. They have differences and are used in different industries.
Asbestos-cement non-pressure pipe is designed for outdoor pipelines, sewers, chimneys, fences, cable laying, as well as for drainage systems. With the help of these asbestos cement products, telephone cables are laid. In addition, they are used as fence posts and in foundation construction. Pressure products are used for ventilation, gas supply, water supply, garbage chute and land reclamation.
Connection Methods
To connect asbestos-cement material, couplings, brackets, and brackets that are suitable in diameter are used. The most commonly used method of docking products. Before connecting them, the coupling is heated in hot water (90-100⁰С). Then one end of the coupling is put on the already laid pipe, and its second end is fixed on the other side. On wet ground, the coupling after connection is recommended to be filled with hot bitumen.
Asbestos-cement pipe 100 mm in diameter has a weight of 24 kg, and its length is 3950 mm. There are products made of asbestos cement with a diameter of 100 to 500 mm, with a length of 3.95-5 meters. A different cross-sectional diameter depends on the area in which the building material is used. When designing, it is important to choose the right products.
Technical requirements for the finished product:
- straightness of products;
- compliance with all required standards;
- compliance with the complete set;
- material must be waterproof;
- all pipes are hydraulic pressure tested.
It is strongly not recommended to replace non-pressure products with pressure ones, and vice versa! Non-pressure asbestos-cement pipes, the price of which is slightly lower, save money. However, it is worth considering that the gas must be supplied under pressure. If the material does not meet specifications, an accident may occur.
The production technology of this product is well developed. With these products, installation costs are reduced by 50%.
