Before the final finishing of the walls, it is necessary to perform putty work. Puttying the walls will help get rid of all kinds of bumps and depressions. If the puttying of the walls is done in good faith, then their surface will be in good condition even after several repairs. Leveling the walls with putty takes place in several stages: priming, applying the first layer, applying the second layer (leveling the walls), finishing coating. Before the first layer has time to dry, you can stick a masking grid on it. It is very important to prime and sand the previous layer before applying each layer. In this case, each time you should wait for the putty (or primer) to dry.
Under the wallpaper, the flaws of the starting putty may not be noticeable, but the walls for painting are prepared very carefully. Therefore, puttying the walls for painting implies the mandatory application of a finish coat. Finishing putty is a fine-grained mass. It is applied in a thin layer. When it dries completely, the surface of the walls becomes almost perfect. Of course, all this will be perfect only when the work is done by a professional master.
Wall putty is divided into several types: starting, lighthouse and finishing. This designation is conditional. It may differ slightly in different construction teams.
Starting putty is designed to remove large defects. Often it is placed on a paint grid. The composition of this putty mixture is rough. It is applied in a thick layer - up to 15 mm.
Lighthouse putty implies maintaining the correct level horizontally and vertically. The mixture used is the same as for the starting putty. This method of leveling walls is rarely used, since the cost of such putty is quite high.
Finishing puttying of the walls is performed on top of the lighthouse or starting. It eliminates minor defects and makes the surface smooth. But the finishing putty is not able to remove obvious defects. This must be done when applying the starting layers.
With the development of new technologies, methods have appeared for applying putty mixture using special machines that can perform continuousputtying of concrete surfaces, plasterboard and gypsum boards, plastered walls. The use of technology eliminates the need for craftsmen to fill the dry mixture with water and mix with a mixer. Putty machines are equipped with mixing devices, which allows spraying a homogeneous layer of the mixture onto the surface, excluding dry lumps from getting on the wall. With the use of such machines, wall plastering can be carried out more quickly and without loss of proper quality.
