Washing in the bath is an age-old tradition of all peoples, and everyone strives to arrange a small holiday by visiting the bath, and showering and bathing is a daily activity. In ancient Russia, people washed in baths from time immemorial. In them, women gave birth, healers treated, girls wondered if they would get married. The poor went to the “black” bathhouse, the rich warmed their bodies in bathhouses equipped with a chimney. But in all the baths there was one similarity - stoves made of wild stone or brick, resistant to high temperatures.

Wood-burning stoves-heaters,made of refractory bricks are widely used. The use of bricks improves the functionality of the bath: such stoves keep heat for a long time; when touching a brick wall, the possibility of getting a burn is excluded. But building a brick stove for a sauna is a very expensive undertaking.

If you have buildingknowledge and skills, you can independently make a stove for a bath from a metal pipe. Building a furnace from a metal pipe is the simplest and most reliable solution for a reliable furnace at low cost.

You will need a welding machine, rod

with a section diameter of 7-8 mm - 10 meters, hinged hinges - 4 pcs., a water tap - 1 pc., 1 sheet iron plate 15 mm wide and 500 mm long. The basis of the body of the sauna stove will be a metal pipe 1500-1700 mm long, 500-700 mm in diameter and 10 mm thick.

Installation and welding of the sauna stove

The pipe is cut into two parts - one part with a length of 1000 mm will serve as a combustion chamber, and a heater will be located above it. The second part, 700 mm long, will serve as a water tank. On the lower section of the combustion chamber, we cut out a small slot, 50-60 mm high and up to 200 mm wide, the so-called blower, to increase traction. A strip of metal up to 15 mm wide is attached above it. In the inner section of the combustion chamber, inside the pipe, we fasten a grate made of a large cross-section rod. A hole is cut above the blower to supply firewood to the firebox. A furnace door with hinges and a hook is made from a metal sheet 300x350 mm, the door is attached to the outer wall of the metal furnace.

A compartment for stones is mounted above the firebox - a heater, it is located at a height of 120-150 mm above the firebox. An outlet 300-350 mm in size is cut out in the side wall of the stone compartment, which closesdoor. On the opposite side of the combustion chamber door, in the upper part of the furnace, a hole is cut out for an exhaust pipe with a valve, which is welded to the furnace body and led outside the bath. The pipe must be insulated with refractory materials. Above the heater, welding, a steel circle 5-10 mm thick is attached and a water tank with a tap and a lid is mounted on it. The wood stove is ready for use.

Stove stoves are installed on a concrete foundation and at a distance of 30 cm from the wall. The door of the combustion chamber is always located opposite the entrance door to the steam room. Perform a warm-up test after installing the oven.

The stove-heater will heat the bath regularly and for a long time, because it is made by your hands.
