Frame houses - prefabricated, reliable and inexpensive buildings, the facade of which must be faced. This should be done for several reasons: to improve the appearance and improve the technological characteristics of the building. Further in the article it will be described how to sheathe the facade of a frame house in order not only to decorate it, but also to protect it from environmental influences.

Facing building materials

Many parameters of the building will depend on their quality. The strength of the walls, the microclimate, sound and heat insulation, as well as the level of protection against moisture - a small list of the technical characteristics of the frame house, which depend on the features of the cladding.

There are many materials on the construction market for these works. The well-known types of finishing the facade of a frame house should be listed. It can be sheathed with such facing materials:

  • board;
  • brick;
  • siding (vinyl, steel or wood);
  • natural orartificial stone;
  • clinker tiles (front);
  • composite materials;
  • plaster;
  • marble chips;
  • waterproof plywood;
  • OSB-plate.

Painting the facade is considered a good option, but this method is rarely used in modern construction. But, for example, it is sometimes used as an additional layer.

Insulation of the facade of a frame house

These activities must be carried out before the start of facing work. For similar purposes, you can use the following materials:

  1. Polyurethane foam.
  2. Mineral wool.
  3. Styrofoam.

Polyurethane foam is a heat-insulating material that must be applied to the surface using special tools. When the jet hits the wall, a foam layer is formed. However, there is one caveat: if this insulation is not protected from sunlight (UV rays), then it will quickly lose its technical properties. To do this, a layer of polyurethane foam must be treated with mastic or acrylic paint. But if facade cladding is planned, then the thermal insulation will in any case be protected from the effects of ultraviolet rays.

If mineral wool is chosen for the insulation of a frame house, then you should know: this material has a high vapor permeability and low water absorption. Its advantages include such characteristics: incombustibility, good sound insulation, durability and quick installation.

Insulation of the facade of a frame housepolystyrene is the cheapest option. This thermal insulation material will withstand heavy loads, and it is easy to mount it. However, houses in which there is an increased level of humidity cannot be sheathed with foam plastic.

Wooden cladding

Frame houses are often sheathed using this method. Can be used as facing material:

  • cut board;
  • lining;
  • block house.

There are several features to consider when cladding a building with boards:

  • one side must be sanded and primed immediately;
  • the whole board needs to be painted over;
  • fasten the material to the crate with 50 mm galvanized nails;
  • between the boards you need to make a small gap (about 2 mm);
  • finally, the finished structure needs to be painted over 2 times.

Such a facade of a frame house will retain its original appearance for 12 years.

Brick: advantages and disadvantages

This classic building material is a good option for cladding the facade of a frame house. For these purposes, experts recommend purchasing a silicate hollow brick. Manufacturers make it in various colors. Due to the decorative and high technical qualities, the walls of the building are often sheathed with bricks. It is attached using metal meshes, which must first be tied to the frame.

To himmerits include the following characteristics:

  1. Low water absorption, which is no more than 6%. Therefore, the facade of the building will not need to be protected from the negative effects of moisture using waterproofing materials.
  2. Sustainable.
  3. High resistance to adverse external factors - brick will protect the walls of the house from strong wind and rain.
  4. Natural minerals are used to create the material.
  5. Easy installation, but some building experience will still be needed as masonry work will be required. In addition, the facade of the attic floor of the frame house and the remaining external walls must first be sheathed with heat-insulating material (for example, foam or mineral wool).
  6. High hardness and strength.

However, before sheathing the facade with bricks, you need to make sure that the foundation and walls of the building can withstand its load. In addition, builders recommend first applying waterproofing to the concrete base of the house, as moisture can destroy the lower brick course.

Vinyl siding

For its installation, you must first perform the crate. These decorative panels on the facade of the frame house must be fixed with self-tapping screws. Vinyl type of siding retains its high technical qualities both at low temperatures (-50 °C) and at high temperatures (+50 °C). In addition, these facing panels are resistant to mechanical damage. Their thickness is 0.95-1.2 mm, and their length is 2-6 m. Manufacturers usually make sheets 10-30 cm wide.

Vinyl panels can be made in the form of brick, wood, natural stone, logs, etc. Before cladding the facade with this material, it is necessary to prepare the walls of the building.

There is a ventilated structure that consists of the following layers:

  1. Interior decoration.
  2. Layer of vapor and thermal insulation.
  3. Wooden frame.
  4. OSB-plate.
  5. Hydrowind protection.
  6. Crate, the step of which is 0.5 x 0.25 m.

As a result, the resulting structure must be sewn up with siding. You should know: along with the panels, you need to buy additional elements with which you can beautifully decorate window and door slopes, corners and gables.

Steel panels

Some homeowners clad their walls with this metal material, which is coated with powder paint or resins. To give the building an original look, you can use colored panels. The advantages of this facing material are:

  • easy installation;
  • high strength;
  • low flammability;
  • harmlessness;
  • does not deteriorate between -60 °C and +90 °C.

However, there are also disadvantages:

  • heavy heat in summer;
  • condensation;
  • impractical (steel panels scratch easily);
  • a lot of noise during the rain.
  • If the panels are not treated with an anti-corrosion compound, then rust will form on their surface.

Stone

Ifto use natural material for sheathing a frame house, you must first take into account its high price. But on the other hand, it is a durable stone, thanks to which the facade of the building will look solid and respectable. In the construction industry, the following breeds are used for these purposes:

  • marble;
  • granite;
  • quartzite;
  • shell rock.

Natural stone retains its original appearance for more than one decade. However, it is difficult to mount and process.

There is no less high-quality artificial material with which you can make the cladding of the facade of a frame house much easier and faster. Such a stone is outwardly similar to natural rocks, so the difference between them is practically not visible. It is easier to sheathe walls with artificial material, since it is produced in the form of whole panels and slabs, and it is necessary to fix the stone on the prepared surface using an adhesive composition.

Clinker tiles

This facing material is an imitation of brick. The tile is made from plastic clay, which is subjected to heat treatment during the process, and after - pressing. The result is a light material - it will not heavily load the walls and foundation of the building.

clinker lining

To clad the facade with clinker tiles, you first need to fix the crate on the walls, treat it with an antiseptic composition and install the so-called cement block screen. It is necessary to lay the material on a cement mortar with the addition of plasticizers.

The advantages of facade tiles are as follows:

  • this is an environmentally friendly and safe material;
  • many colors;
  • convenient installation;
  • evenly painted surface;
  • high adhesion;
  • light weight;
  • long operating period;
  • resistance to temperature transmission.

However, carefully attach the clinker tiles to the surface, as it can be accidentally damaged.

Composite cladding material

These are aluminum double-layer panels equipped with a special locking connection. There may be mineral or plastic components inside the material. Such panels are not so popular, but every year they are increasingly used for facade cladding. A frame house lined with this multilayer material will be reliably protected.

Composite facing material

During production, the panels are processed with special mixtures, thanks to which the aluminum sheets obtain such highly technical parameters:

  • light weight, so they can be used for cladding wooden buildings;
  • low price;
  • durability;
  • high strength;
  • material can be used for sheathing houses built in cold climates.

Another advantage of composite panels is that they are easy to install. To do this, locks are provided at the ends, with the help of which the parts can be fastened to each other, and they can be mounted directly on the walls. But sometimes it settles downfor these operations, a wooden or metal crate.

Final part

The article described popular materials with which you can clad the facade of a frame house. For these purposes, you can also use plaster, plywood, marble chips or OSB boards.

You can carry out work on the sheathing of the outer walls of the building yourself. To do this, the main thing is to purchase the recommended building materials that were given in the article.
