Everyone knows the inconvenience of having keys in a bag or pocket. The key can get lost at the bottom of the reticule, tear the fabric and end up under the lining. Wearing it in trousers, there is every chance of losing it on the street. A key case made of leather, used to store a whole bunch of different keys, will help solve this problem. Zip key case
Sewing a key case yourself is easy and fast. Consider a sewing option in which a leather key holder will be fastened with a lock. To do this, prepare a piece of skin. It can be artificial, or you can cut a natural one from the top of old boots or a bag. Still need cotton fabric for lining, 17-18 cm zipper and carabiner.
Before cutting out the case, you need to measure the longest key in the bunch. The following are approximate values, you are guided by your size. From the skin we cut out a square piece with sides of 16 cm. From the lining we prepare a piece 16 by 19see
To sew in the zipper, put the leather part inside out in front of you, put the zipper with the right side to the square and the lining fabric (19 cm) wrong side up, connecting the upper sections of all the parts. The lining, after stitching, should protrude 1.5 cm beyond both edges. Then we connect the lower sections of the skin and fabric with the second part of the zipper and sew.
Turn the future case inside out and sew the lines to the edge, attaching the skin to the zipper on the front side. Next, you need to position the part in front of you so that the leather side is inside, and the zipper is in the middle of the part. We sew open sections, stepping back from the edge by 2 cm, slightly unzipping.
We attach a carabiner to the key strap and place it in the case next to the zipper. We bend the allowances on both sides and sew, grabbing the strap. We turn inside out and admire - the key holder is made of leather with our own hands!
Key keeper for a child
Children are scattered personalities, often lose their hats, gloves, forget umbrellas and second shoes on the benches, and the keys are no exception. A child, as well as an adult, can be helped out by a leather housekeeper. A children's case can be sewn in the form of an animal. It can be an owl, a cat or another animal. We create a pattern and cut out two parts from the leather corresponding to the size of the keys. On the part where the muzzle will be, you can sew eyes, cheeks, if it is a bird, then a beak. We manually sew the parts on both sides, leaving holes at the top between the ears for the leash and at the bottom for the keys to enter. Leash through the ringfrom a bunch of keys, fold in half and stretch the ends from the inside into the upper hole. The ends can be sewn together and embellished with a larger bead or button than the hole. The principle of operation is as follows: we tighten the tongue - the keys are hidden in the pocket, release it and lightly press on the seams of the case - they pop out into the palm of your hand. Original bag-case
Let's consider another version of the key holder made of genuine leather in the form of a bag. To do this, you need a small piece of leather, from which you need to cut a circle with a radius equal to the length of your key. A good piece is one whose edges do not require processing. Then the bag will be soft and without unnecessary rough seams. A cut can be taken by ripping an old leather jacket, jacket or boots.
Baulchik is the easiest way to create a key case. Along the perimeter of the circle, punch several holes with an awl at an equal distance from each other. Then thread the leather cord through the holes so that the two ends meet in adjacent holes and come out. If the lace is wetted with hot water and stretched, then the lobar edges will wrap up in an interesting way, and they will not need to be processed. Having cut a long cord, the bag can be put on the child's neck. A bunch of keys can be hung on a string by passing it through the ring inside the case. The approximate length of a short lace can be equal to half the circumference. To decorate the holes, you can process the eyelets, apply an application on the case.
Long key holder
Let's give an example of how to sew a leather key holder for non-standard large keys. These can be the keys to the garage, barn locks or storage rooms. The cover is elongated, braided by hand, the tongue on the button. To make it you will need: scissors, a punch or an awl, a ruler, a pencil, a button with a magnet, a piece of leather.
Measuring the keys by the width of the bundle and the length of the largest key, we create a pattern. Fold the piece of leather in half, right side inward. The strap is a single piece, folded in half. Therefore, from the fold, we draw a half of the strap, corresponding in size to the length of the cover. The ends of the leash can be cut in the shape of a diamond - for sewing on a button. Next, we cut out the base from two identical parts, rounding the bottom of the cover. To strengthen the button on the case, you can additionally prepare a rhombus made of leather, which, with the button already installed, is glued from the outside to the top of the key holder. We attach the second part from the button to one part of the strap, then fold it in half, after passing it through the ring. We glue both parts. For decor, we sew the tongue around the perimeter manually. After drying, we make holes on the sides of the case and braid it with a cord, placing the strap inside the product.
How to make braided lace
Handmade leather braided key holder looks more original and original, which gives it individuality and creativity. But not many people know how to manually make a beautiful leather lace forbraids.
The cord is quite long and is more than twice the length of the braided part of the part. It is not always possible to find a suitable piece of leather. There is an easy way to get a long cord from a small piece. To do this, draw and cut out a circle with a diameter of 8 cm from the skin. Then, in a spiral, observing a width of 3 mm and moving towards the very center, cut out a cord with a length of at least 2 meters. The resulting thread will be uneven. To straighten the curves, you need to hold it in hot water and wind it around the bottle. The cord will stretch and lose its curvature when it dries.
Standard key case
This key holder is sewn from one piece and an additional piece to reinforce carabiners. Having measured a bunch of keys, we cut out a part from the skin with a width increased three times and a length equal to the key +1 cm for free placement. The second part for the key holders must be reduced in width by 1 cm, the length will correspond to the size of the base of the carabiners. To install a metal part, you will need rivets. In a hardware store they are called holnitens. The leather key holder is fastened with two buttons.
On the wrong side of the main part, we find the middle and place the lining part and holders at the upper cut. Rivets and buttons on the valves can be installed by yourself, or you can contact the clothing repair department.
