Paving slabs are durable, easy to use and replace. Moreover, laying tiles is cheaper than when working with asph alt.
Advantage one - ease of repair
Pavement damage is easy to repair locally, while remaining as even as it was before the damage, which is difficult to achieve with asph alt - patched holes in the roadway become bumps or depressions, depending on how hard the utilities try. If one tile cracks, the rift will not spread further to the others.
Due to the fact that the sizes of paving slabs are different, they can be used for a variety of purposes - from the decoration of small paths to a full coverage for vehicles. It is not easy to pave roads with them, but here are small sections - parking, for example, it will come out easier and cheaper.
What determines which tile to take for a particular area
The fact is that the sizes of paving slabs, which initially appeared in the post-Soviet space, did not differ in variety - there were only a dozen of themtypes. Now the range is much wider, and different types of tiles can become a coating for sidewalks, parking lots, truck entrances. The main parameter to be considered is the load on the coverage area. The higher this figure, the thicker the coating should be. Therefore, the coveted number of millimeters is the most important parameter, the correct choice of which will make it possible to qualitatively and for a long time turn the surface into a full-fledged path that both adults and children can safely walk on.
Types of paving slabs
The simplest type of tile is the “brick”.
It does not require the selection and observance of a pattern or ornament. The standard size of paving slabs "brick" is 210x105x60 (or other thickness value). But other values are possible - depending on the manufacturer.
Besides this look, there are many other forms, which are much more troublesome to lay, but the result is much more interesting:
"coil"
"scales"
"clover"
And also "honeycombs", "gzhelka", or square tiles with different patterns, such as "grid", "chocolate", "cobweb", "waves", "parquet" and much more. An interesting option is paving slabs for paving stones.
If previously paving stones meanthewn natural stones, now there is a design solution in a lightweight version that helps to achieve the effect of "antique". Sizes of paving slabs can be 100x100, 100x200, 200x200 with different thicknesses (most often from 40 to 80 mm).
Pedestrian and vehicular areas - which tile works for both?
Such sections also differ in the nature of the load. For example, a path in a private garden or in a park area. In the first case, the tiles will be walked relatively rarely and mainly by the owners. In the second, the road will have to withstand a much larger number of people, as well as the weight of bicycles and mopeds. Therefore, thinner tiles are suitable for the first case, and in the park, accordingly, it is better to choose an option with a large thickness value.
Basically, the dimensions of paving slabs (in particular, their thickness) vary between 20-60 millimeters. The thinnest one is suitable for individual use paths - in the yard, in the garden, where heavy vehicles will definitely not drive. And 60 millimeters is a tile that is suitable for paving roads that can withstand the weight of multi-ton cars.
How thick is the tile
In general, there are such basic values for the thickness of paving slabs: 20, 30, 40, 45, 60 mm. There are also options with 80 mm tiles, which, of course, will last longer, be able to withstand heavy loads, but also cost more, so you need to calculate the ratio of the required material exposure and price.
Other sizes of paving slabs (length and width) are importantmore for ease of installation. So, if you need to cover a small area, then you can find time to tinker with a small tile. For large areas, paving slabs of large sizes are better suited. The width and length of such tiles start from 300x300 and reach 1000x1000, while there are also square and figured products.
Paving slabs: dimensions, weight and pricing
The weight of a tile directly depends on its size, as well as on the material from which it is made, and color. For example, large paving slabs made of reinforced concrete have the following parameters:
300x300x60 - 13.5 kg (product unit);
500x500x40 - 25 kg;
500х500х70 - 44 kg;
1000х500х50 – 66 kg;
1000х1000х80 – 200 kg;
1000х1000х100 – 240 kg.
The weight of small tiles is indicated per square meter. So, a square meter of a “brick” 55 millimeters thick weighs 125 kg. The same thickness "clover" - 102, and a square tile with an ornament - 120 kg. Naturally, tiles of smaller thickness will weigh less. A square 30mm California tile weighs 62kg.
Accordingly, the price of a tile will depend on its size, as well as on the color performance. So, a square meter of paving slabs "Wave" with dimensions of 237x103x60 in gray version will cost 400, and in color - 480 rubles. A square meter of the "California" tile, which is a square with a pattern with dimensions of 300x300x30, in graycosts 330, in color - 400 rubles. Similar to the previous "Web" with dimensions of 400x400x50 (the difference is 20 millimeters of thickness and an ornament), gray costs 380, and color - 460 rubles.
Tiles with the same perimeter, but different thicknesses, and also painted in a color other than gray, will cost more.
