Recently, many people decide to make apartment repairs on their own. This decision is connected with saving money on the wages of workers and the opportunity to prove themselves as a builder. Therefore, the question of how to properly install interior doors quite often torments beginner builders.
It is worth noting that this process is very responsible and requires a certain tool and accurate calculation. It must be approached with all seriousness, since improper installation of the door can lead to its rapid wear, inconvenience in operation and even damage to the wall.
First you need to decide when to install interior doors so that they are not damaged during further repairs. Typically, such installation is carried out after finishing the wall, before painting or wallpapering. If the doors are installed in the bathroom, then this is done before installing the tiles. At the same time, only the door frame is fixed at first, and the canvas is hung after all the work has been completed.
Before you install the doors, you need to prepare an opening in the wall. He must bemade in accordance with the dimensions of the box, but taking into account gaps of 1-2 cm on each side. This is done so that there is a small space that is necessary for the adjustment and functioning of the entire system.
The door frame is installed in the opening and fixed with wedges. In this case, it is necessary to use a plumb line and a water level so that the future door stands level and does not open by itself. Ideally, the door should open and be in the position in which it was left. Also, it should not be lapped and pinched by the box, which can happen if installed incorrectly.
Before you install the doors, you should be aware that the mounting foam used to fix the frame has a high expansion coefficient and can have a negative effect when used. Therefore, before blowing it into the gaps between the wall and the box, it is worth installing spacers. Some instructions on how to install doors suggest placing one spacer in the area of the lock or doorknob, but professionals recommend using three of them. Two additional ones are placed in the area where the upper and lower loops are located. So the mounting foam will not be able to deform the box and fix it tightly.
After that, you can hang the canvas. Many instructions on how to install doors advise mounting the leaf with a gap of about 5 mm from the floor. However, it should always be taken into account thatthere is a kind of subsidence, which can cause rubbing of the bottom of the canvas and prevent the door from opening. Therefore, such a gap should be made a little larger and brought to 10, and sometimes even up to 15 mm.
A properly installed door should open easily, not have chafing or creaking, but most importantly, it should not open and close on its own under the influence of its own weight.
