There is no such man who would not be fond of fishing. Fishing is not just food, it is relaxation for the soul and body. But this is not about that, but about how to make smokehouses for fish with your own hands, for cooking smoked fish at home and camping, and what is needed for this.

Practically anyone will not refuse to taste homemade smoked fish, and in this form it will be stored much longer.

So, what do you need to make a fish smoker with your own hands. It does not provide for complex structures, and the material can be found in your garage or pantry.

A very primitive way is to use an old ten-liter tank as a smoking container, but it should not be thin. As a baking sheet, a lattice or rods are used. In the first case, do-it-yourself smokehouses for fish can be bunk, in the second case, the perches are spot-welded at the same level, crossing, and the fish is hung on hooks. Grids are betterchoose from stainless steel, since the zinc present in ordinary iron, when heated, begins to stand out and settle on the fish.

If the tank cap is lost, it can be replaced with an ordinary sheet of iron, the main thing is to ensure its tight fit, since the penetration of oxygen into the tank is unacceptable. The process is as simple as the design itself. Sawdust of fruit trees is placed at the bottom of the tank, fish is hung up, closed with a lid and set on a fire.

The second way to make a do-it-yourself fish smoker requires some skill and knowledge of plumbing and welding. The smokehouse will be a metal box with the following dimensions: length - 60 centimeters, width and height - 30 centimeters, metal thickness - 2 millimeters. When welding, do not forget about safety.

The seams of the smokehouse must be fully boiled, leaving no gaps in order to avoid leakage of smoke. The trays are set in two tiers and should be removable for ease of cooking. To do this, a small channel is welded along the long sides by spot welding, on which the grate is located. The lid should be even, not deformed, with a handle and fit snugly to the box. You can take such a smokehouse with you for fishing, and you can immediately cook the catch. The principle of operation is the same as in the case of a conventional tank.

Third way. A do-it-yourself electric smokehouse is more complex in design. Its dimensions can bedifferent, depending on the volume of fish you plan to cook. Some craftsmen use a non-working refrigerator without internal parts, old gas stoves, or make it from 2 mm thick sheet metal as a drawer.

The peculiarity of the electric smokehouse is that it is not an open fire that is used as a heating element, but an electric burner built into the smokebox. In the upper part there are perches for hanging fish.

A bowl of walnut shavings is placed on the burner, a baking sheet is placed on top to reduce heat, tightly closed with a lid, and that's it, you can start smoking.

This is what a homemade smokehouse looks like. "Homemade" drawings can be found if you want something more original.
