Interest in the construction of private homes has recently increased significantly. Many people buy land outside the city for this purpose. They are not always ideal for the construction of buildings. It often happens that before starting construction, some preparatory work needs to be done.

Most often, such preparation includes a drainage system. If the soil on the purchased site is damp, that is, the groundwater is too high, the owner will have to reduce their level. Such a drainage system is called linear, deep. For its device, you need to know how to properly mount and use various elements of the drainage system, such as pipes, wells, drainage grates, etc., as well as be able to properly plan their location.

The second type of drainage - point - is used in almost any area, even dry. Everyone is familiar with this type of drainage. Everyone has probably seen drainpipes - an essential attribute of multi-storey buildings. A surface point drainage system is used to drain fromwalls and foundations of the house of rain and melt water. For its device, a private homeowner will need elements such as gutters, pipes, drainage grates, and various fixtures. Often these two types of drainage are arranged at the same time.

Drainage grids are used both for deep drainage and point drainage. Their main purpose is to protect manholes, wells and water collectors from dirt, fallen leaves, etc. They also perform another useful function - they protect pedestrians from injury, as well as the elements of the drainage system themselves from damage, for example, by transport.

Modern industry produces a huge number of drainage grates of various types, for any purpose and from many different materials. The drainage grating should first of all have such quality as high strength.

This condition is especially important when using this element in places with increased load. For example, in parking lots, highways. But even in quiet places, for example, in parks and squares, gratings should securely close manholes and wells.

They are usually made of metal. According to European standards, gratings are divided into 6 classes according to the permissible load. Classes are designated by letters of the Latin alphabet from "A" to "F". Consider the main types of gratings.

  • Made of galvanized and stainless steel. They are very durable, hygienic as they are easy to clean and resistant to corrosion.
  • Copper and brass drain grates. They have the same benefitssame as steel.
  • Cast-iron grilles. They are very often made for wells of non-standard sizes. The material can be both gray and ductile iron. The advantage of ductile iron gratings is that they can be classified into grades.

In addition to gratings, plastic rainwater inlets are produced to protect the elements of the drainage system. They are attached to the pipes separately and have such a structural element as a waste basket. They are installed under drainpipes. Grates for storm water inlets can be purchased separately.
