The beginning of redevelopment in an apartment or a house is a serious and responsible step. During this process, various building materials can be used: brick, aerated concrete, drywall. The GKL option is easy to use; with its help, the redevelopment process will take much less time than with other materials. It has many positive qualities. How to install a drywall partition will be discussed later.
Features of drywall
Drywall is in high demand in the market. It is used for finishing the ceiling, leveling the walls, in individual decorative design, as well as when creating room partitions. A wide range of applications is due to its positive qualities.
Relatively recently, this material appeared on the market. About him domestic builderslearned about 25 years ago. Prior to that, it was used only in the West. Massively apply this material in construction began not so long ago. Its use facilitated the process of work during redevelopment. Prior to this, only bricks were used for such purposes.
This material is very easy to install, so installing drywall partitions with your own hands is a much easier and faster process. It is also used for the construction of interior elements. With the help of this material, finishes of any shape are created. Even a beginner can work with these sheets.
The installation of drywall partitions is a fast type redevelopment. You can also easily choose the material for any room. Moisture-resistant, ordinary, heat-resistant, reinforced (it includes reinforcing fiber) drywall goes on sale.
It can be noted that the construction of partitions from GKL does not exert strong pressure on the ceiling due to the lightness of this material. At the same time, its cost is low. The presented material is environmentally friendly. This factor is also important.
Profile for frame
Installing a drywall partition is a simple matter. Therefore, almost everyone can build it. But before that, you should consider the technology of the process and the recommendations of specialists.
For a partition made of plasterboard, you need to construct a metal frame. It is erected using a partition profile. The stores offer a huge range of similar constructionitems.
Two types of profile are used for this. Rack (PS or CW) or guide (PN or UW). They differ in size and scope. During the construction of the frame, they will need a lot. So before starting, you need to calculate the number of structural elements.
Profile (PN) is available in 4 sizes. He is the guide. It has numbers after marking the PN, which indicate the width of the element. They come in sizes 50, 65, 75 and 100 (these numbers are in millimeters). This is the width of the cross section of the profile. The height of the rectangle to be produced on the slice is 40mm. The length of the PN profile is usually 3 meters.
The maximum length of the rack profile is standardly up to 4 meters. It cannot be increased. If, if necessary, you need a larger size, then a special order is issued at the manufacturing plant.
If we are talking about an interior partition, then you do not need to take a profile of 50 or 65 mm wide. He is weak for these purposes. It is recommended to use profile PS-100 and PN-100. Then the thickness of the partition will be 12.5 cm. This should be taken into account when creating a room plan. If it is not possible to make a partition with such a profile, then it is allowed to select structural elements with a width of 75 mm as a minimum. Then the thickness of the wall will be 10 cm.
Preparatory work
Before zoning is created, a room project is made. This work for the builder is not difficult. But for a beginner, of course, it is recommended to be more careful during the calculations. Master draws a drawingspace on paper to scale. Then he chooses a suitable place to build a wall. You should also pay attention to whether the interior door is installed in a plasterboard partition. If cabinets are hung on the wall, or any elements using fasteners, special jumpers are installed in the right places.
Creating a drawing is necessary in any case. This will help to correctly consider the stages of work, several zoning options and the exact determination of the desired material and its quantity.
Installing a door into a plasterboard partition is a painstaking job. Therefore, this moment should be well calculated and purchased the necessary material in accordance with the calculations. You need to use the profile PN-100 and PS-100. The list should also include sealing tape and a chopping cord. Drywall sheets should be 12.5 mm thick. During the work, you should use the level. For such purposes, it should be two meters.
A sickle is also purchased, which is used to seal seams when interacting with a special putty. But you can buy a building mix from KNAUF Uniflot. She closes the seams without a sickle. But the price is much higher.
During work, you should also have a hammer, tape measure, puncher, screwdriver, metal shears and a drywall knife on hand. Self-tapping screws for metal, acrylic primer and soundproofing material are purchased. You should buy spatulas (wide, narrow and for finishingcorners).
Markup
When installing a plasterboard partition, you must first mark the room, which was previously applied to a notebook or just on a sheet of paper. Basically, partitions are made with a door. The required distance is measured from the starting wall using a tape measure. Marks are made along the side walls and two vertical lines are drawn. Then they are connected along the floor and ceiling.
To do this, the master uses a chopping cord. It is set between two marks, pulled a little and released. The result is a straight line. Then 10 or 12.5 cm retreat from it. It depends on the project.
The doorway should be marked. For him, you should purchase a strong profile. This construction is easy to build. Another similar bar is inserted into one rack beam. They are fastened with metal screws.
It should be noted that the door frame is installed in a plasterboard partition with a reinforced profile. PS-100 is used, which is able to withstand a web weight of 40 kg. Therefore, it is required to make a frame of reinforced elements. Usually the width of the door leaf is 80 cm. In this case, the opening is made wider by 8 cm. After applying and rechecking the markings, you can install the profile.
Expert Tips
Is it a redevelopment to install a drywall partition and is it legal? Residents of many apartments ask themselves this question. The Housing Code of the Russian Federation (in Article 25, Part 4) separates the concept of "reconstruction" and "re-planning" of living space. If duringload-bearing walls were not demolished and communication systems were re-equipped, then no permission to receive construction work is required.
If it is necessary to make zoning due to the need to equip a separate living space, then drywall is used. Before installation, do not finish the walls. Over time, the entire space in the new room will need to be covered with putty, and then decorative finishing.
Often the walls in the room are uneven. The differences can be several centimeters. Therefore, you should carefully measure the walls on the ceiling and floor. Otherwise, a crooked partition may result. Experts recommend not to neglect this advice.
You should follow the established sequence of actions when installing a drywall partition. The first marking line on the wall is required to align the PN profile. The thickness of the selected drywall (2.5 mm) is added to the markup. A layer of putty is applied to the screwed sheets, this must also be taken into account in the calculations.
The rack profile is cut so that it is one centimeter shorter than the height of the ceiling. This should be remembered when cutting in the process of preparing the material used. A stiffening rib is determined on the PS profile. With this edge, it will be mounted where the lining is made with sheets. You need to understand that the stiffener should be directed to where the beginning of the cladding of the GKL frame will be made.
Profile installation
Then the profiles are installed. There is nothing difficult in this. To begin with, markings are made for the holes into which the profile is fixed with the help of dowels. Then it is applied to the wall, the created markup is transferred. Then it is removed and holes are made in the marked areas to the desired depth with an impact drill or perforator.
Next, a sealing tape is glued to the profile. Usually it is self-adhesive. Her presence is mandatory. The profile is fixed at the edges. Then install the dowels with an interval of 50-80 cm.
The choice of fastening also depends on the material of the base. If the building is concrete, then dowels of 7.5 cm are needed, and if it is wooden, then self-tapping screws 5 cm long are needed. When installing a partition in a brick house, dowels of 10 cm are used.
After the installation of the guide profiles is completed, the rack elements of the frame are mounted. The first of them should be tightly fixed to the wall. It also enters the guide profile and is fixed by self-tapping screws or cutters. And in order to ensure good sound insulation of the structure, it is necessary to paste over the profile with sealing tape. Also, all metal parts of the frame should be constantly checked by building levels to avoid uneven fastening.
Next, the installation of racks continues. Compliance with step-by-step instructions allows you to do the task correctly. The profile is recommended to be placed in increments of 40-70 cm in order. You also need to consider that the edges of the GKL should fall in the middle of the profile. This will give the frame the required strength. Each rackfastened with a cutter to the guide structures.
Installing a door in a plasterboard partition
Next, the arrangement of the doorway is carried out. The design involves the installation of jumpers. Rack profiles should initially be mounted taking into account the creation of a doorway. Since it is wide, the door leaf is attached to it. Racks are reinforced with timber.
Next, you need to put a jumper. It does not matter whether a sliding door will be installed in a plasterboard partition or a canvas is planned to be installed. It should correspond to the height of the doorway. A piece of the profile is cut off. It should be 20 cm longer than the opening. The side faces are cut off from it. Then the profile is bent. From the outside it looks like ears. The design will resemble outwardly the letter "P". And the sides should be 10 cm long. For these sections, it is attached to the rack profiles. The crossbar is fixed with self-tapping screws inside the opening. Over time, when the sheathing will take place, drywall sheets are mounted there.
Then a couple of rack profiles are installed above the crossbar. They are arranged in increments of 40 cm and fastened with self-tapping screws. The distance between the rack profiles and the slats above the partition is also taken into account. When the structure is assembled, and the installation of the door into the plasterboard partition is partially completed, they proceed to facing with plasterboard.
Sliding doors
For sliding door installationin a plasterboard partition, this building material is well suited. Thanks to the GKL, you can make a suitable gap for a sliding door.
Before erecting the frame for the partition, make sure that after installing the sliding doors, nothing will prevent their movement. It's also important to be safe. Often a socket, a switch, a lamp is installed in an erected wall, or they simply create wiring. This is highly undesirable if a sliding interior door is installed in a plasterboard partition. If this is necessary, you should very carefully calculate all the points. It is important that under no circumstances should the sliding door come into contact with electrical components.
If there are carpets in the room, it is necessary to ensure that the fibers from this material do not fall into the mechanism of the lower guide elements of the doors, as this may damage the mechanism in the future. Here are the rules to follow when installing a sliding door into a drywall partition. And then the design will last a long time and with high quality.
Liner
Plasterboard sheathing occurs only after the complete construction of the structure. You can start on the right side. The first sheet will reach the doorway. On average, its width is 60 cm. The sheet should be prepared in advance, in accordance with the dimensions of the structure.
The sheet is sewn with a distance of 1 cm from the floor and 0.5 cm from the ceiling. It is better to start mounting one sheet at the bottom, and then the missing piecethrown on top.
Docking of sheets should occur in the middle of the surface of the profiles. To do this, use a rack profile. An additional profile is mounted to the first sheet that was installed on the frame. Then mount the second sheet of drywall.
Sheathing the partition, self-tapping screws are mounted at intervals of 15 cm. For jumpers, the step will be smaller. The chamfer is also cut off from the ends of the GKL. In this case, the seam surface will be straight instead of rounded.
Soundproofing and communications tab
During the installation of partitions, communication systems are often installed to lead them to a separated part of the room. Before sewing up the second side, an electric wire is laid in it. This allows, for example, to install a switch in a plasterboard partition in order to make lighting in the second half of the room.
A hole with a diameter of 35 mm is made in the wall. Lay a corrugated pipe there and thread a wire into it. It is located in the center of the frame. Also make a hole for the light switch. In the right place, a chandelier or lamp is installed on the wall.
Also, you can lay mineral wool in the partition. It is environmentally friendly, so it can easily be used in residential areas. Often this is done to increase sound insulation. Rolled mineral wool is well suited for this.
Completion of construction works
In the process of completion of construction work, sewing is being carried outthe second half of the structure with all the elements embedded in it. Next, puttying GKL is performed. Then the required decorative interior decoration is created. This can be painting, wallpapering or other cladding options.
If you follow all the above recommendations, then the self-assembled structure will serve for many years.
