Uzambara violet (Saintpaulia) is one of my favorite indoor plants. The variety of charming colors is amazing. Among the many varieties, you can always choose a violet, looking at which takes your breath away. Perhaps she is destined to become the first in the collection, because violets are so often the objects of breeding and collecting.
History
Violet "Jan elegant" was bred by a well-known breeder from Moscow, Natalya Alexandrovna Puminova. For many years she has been breeding and selecting her favorite plants, bringing new varieties of violets to perfection. The prefix "yang" in the name of the variety is the "trademark" of Puminova. This is how the names of other varieties of Natalia Alexandrovna's selection begin. Admire - this is a "yang elegant" violet. Photos will not leave room loversplants are indifferent. Already want such a beauty on your windowsill?
Description
The very name of this saintpaulia contains the essence of the flower. The flowers are very elegant, large, terry. The edges of the dark pink wavy petals have a thin rim that is white with a greenish tint. The color scheme is sometimes described differently. Its color can also be called rose-red. Some flower growers note that the violet is "Yang elegant", and the description of the variety confirms this, sometimes it changes the color of the flowers.
It may happen that the plant reacts to the lower temperature in the room and brightens the petals. With a strong increase, a decrease or even the disappearance of white elegant rims can be observed. The flowering time affects the saturation of the color. New flowers are lighter than already fading ones.
Dark green leaves with jagged edges, rounded and quilted, cover delicate villi. They harmoniously complement abundant bouquets of flowers. And violet blooms almost all year round with proper care. The plant needs only a short break to rest.

Usually violet "yang smart" is grown vegetatively - leaves. With this method, the young flower will inherit the properties of the mother plant.
The leaf is taken in the spring. The petiole is cut off by three to four centimeters and planted in peat soil. The sheet does not need to be buried, it must remain completely on the surface. Make sure the soil is slightly damp. The temperature should be maintained at 18-22 °C. After a month and a half, new leaves will appearyoung violet. Remove the leaf that gave rise to the plant. When the young violet grows up, it is transplanted into a larger pot. You can root the leaf in water, but this method increases the possibility of decay.
When the rosette of leaves becomes three times wider than the pot, the violet needs to be transplanted. 9-12 months pass from the day the leaf is planted to the first flowering.
Violet requires constant and careful care
Special mix for Saintpaulia suitable for any variety. For mature plants, use three parts peat moss, one part garden soil, and a ripper. Violet "yang elegant" loves small pots. Its roots are located in the upper layers of the soil. They are best suited for low, flat pots.
Saintpaulia are sensitive to temperature. The optimum winter temperature is 15-18°С, summer - 18-21°С. It is recommended to ensure that it does not fall below 13°C and does not rise above 30°C. Violet "Jan elegant" does not tolerate drafts. Moving air has a bad effect on the appearance of flowers.
On the advice of experts, try to change the illumination of the violet and determine where the flowering will be the most beautiful in color. Direct sunlight however leaves a leaf scorch that looks like a brown spot. The appearance of the bush will tell you if the plant is sufficiently lit. If there is not enough light, the leaves are pulled up, and when exceeded, they are pulled to the center.
Watering is the most important thing in violet care. And if the drying of the soiladversely affects the appearance, then excessive humidity completely destroys the violet. Water with warm water, little by little and from below, avoiding falling on tender foliage.
