One of the popular types of rolled metal is a beam, in section similar to a double-sided letter T. The size of an I-beam depends on its purpose and varies from four to 12 meters.
I-beam: views
Types of profiles are divided into ordinary and special, designed to work in specific conditions (for the installation of monorails, reinforcement of mine shafts). Depending on the type, the length of the profile can be measured, a multiple of the measured, measured or a multiple of it with the remainder (up to 5% of the mass of the batch), as well as unmeasured. The immediate size of the I-beam corresponds to the distance from one outer edge of the shelf to the other.
I-beams, depending on the type, have significant differences in size. For example, the thickness of a flange is a variable because it is directly related to its shape (slanted or parallel). I-beams are also distinguished by the material from which they are made, since their use on those orother objects (from special steels, from carbon or low alloy steel, hot-rolled steel beams are available separately).
Standards for I-beams
There are several generally accepted standards that unify the size of an I-beam depending on the method of its manufacture and purpose. For example, the standard for hot-rolled steel I-beams controls the manufactured assortment according to the main indicators - actual dimensions, cross-section, specific weight of 1 m, reference values of maximum axle loads.
According to the accuracy of rolling, ordinary beams (with marking C) or increased accuracy (marking B) are distinguished.
Separate standards control the dimensions of the range of I-beams, in which the edges of the flanges are parallel, hot-rolled steel, special steel, other types of special I-beams, and I-beams are also produced according to the specifications of manufacturers.
In each of the existing GOSTs, the control size of the I-beam is indicated (its height, width and average thickness of the flange, wall thickness, radii of curvature of the inner and flange), the mass of a linear meter (kg) and the number of meters in a ton of I-beams.
GOST requirements for I-beam 36
For example, we are interested in an I-beam, the dimensions of which are determined by GOST 8239-89. Drawings of such profiles are usually provided by the standard and carry detailed reference information based on the geometric dimensions of the beam. These, in turn, correspond to the physical characteristics of the profile that are important for its application.
In standardthe parameters inherent in this type of profile are prescribed, which are reference for both manufacturers and buyers. So, I-beam 36. Dimensions: in height - 36 cm, in shelf width - 14.5 cm, in wall thickness - 0.75 cm, in average shelf thickness - 12.3 mm, while the internal rounding should have a radius of no more 1.4 cm, shelf rounding up to 0.6 cm.
Special type M I-beam is used for guiding overhead cranes and telphers, since the thickness of the shelves is increased in comparison with the usual ones.
Also looking at the reference tables of the standard, you can accurately find out the weight of a running meter (specific gravity) of an I-beam 36, which is always the same and amounts to 48.6 kg.
