Due to the oil filler, the gas lift works in both directions. When opening, the oil flows into the lower part and holds the sash, preventing it from closing. There are several types of gas lifts according to their internal design. The difference depends on the place of use. Installation is carried out exclusively with the shock absorber open.

Dismantling is carried out in the reverse order in the open position. Care must be taken not to damage the mirror surface of the stem. Once removed, the gas lift must not be compressed for storage or transport. Any mechanical impact on the rod (scratches, foreign objects) will shorten its service life, because it will disrupt the internal mechanism.

Also, you should not try to open a gas furniture shock absorber for the purpose of curiosity or repair. It contains gas under high pressure, which can cause serious injury.
