Gas furniture shock absorber consists of a cylinder, rod, oil seals and friction bearings. The product is assembled in such a way that the rod is inside the cylinder in an absolutely tight state. Inside there is a gas due to which the rod moves. It is worth pulling the cabinet door or bed platform towards you, like a gas lift instantlyreacts by smoothly pushing the piston, opening. Due to the oil filler, the gas lift works in both directions. When opening, the oil flows into the lower part and holds the sash, preventing it from closing. But as soon as you push it to close, the shock absorber will smoothly work in the opposite direction, pulling the door behind you.

Types and shapes of shock absorbers

There are several types of gas lifts according to their internal design. The difference depends on the place of use. If it is planned to install furniture gas shock absorbers on built-in kitchen furniture, then one type is used. The sales assistant will always tell you which gas lift is needed for a particular piece of furniture. If furniture gas shock absorbers are required for the bed, then this is a different size and, accordingly, the price. In addition to the appearance, there are gas lifts in different colors, which gives the furniture an original look, especially if the cabinets have transparent glazing.

Gas furniture shock absorber can be assembled with a structure that has a trapezoidal assembly of metal tubes or plates using springs. These are lifting elements that are installed on beds, sofas, armchairs, i.e. where it is planned to lift a heavy object. The need arises from the fact that the shock absorber alone will not be able to cope with the opening, which will be caused by its rapid failure.

Installation and disassembly

Gas furniture shock absorber easily lends itself to independentinstallation, which allows you to replace it on any furniture. The gas lift rod is attached from below, and the sleeve is installed at the top. The fasteners must be carefully tightened so that they do not become loose during the operation of the shock absorber. It should also be fastened in such a way that the gas lift lugs do not come into contact with other parts, which will greatly impede the movement of the stem and opening. Installation is carried out exclusively with the shock absorber open.

Dismantling is carried out in the reverse order in the open position. Care must be taken not to damage the mirror surface of the stem. Once removed, the gas lift must not be compressed for storage or transport. Any mechanical impact on the rod (scratches, foreign objects) will shorten its service life, because it will disrupt the internal mechanism.

Important

Before installing the gas lift, be sure to read the installation and use instructions to prevent injury to your hands and damage to the product. Also, you should not try to open a gas furniture shock absorber for the purpose of curiosity or repair. It contains gas under high pressure, which can cause serious injury.
